they are a 100% must have if the car is lowered, on a stock ride height car theya re not so needed, I don't have them and I never get wheel hop, my 60's are usually in the 1.5's.
As for the blown 3V, yes they can put up some big numbers, however I have not raced one yet that was a match for me, even with me staying on motor. I know they are out there and there are a few on this site that would beat me, but I have just not run into any at the track yet. You have to remember that most blower cars are running a centrifical blower, which means that the off idle torque is not that great, a nitrous car on the other hand gets a HUGE TQ hit right away. It's all going to come down to you being able to hook. From the info we have I don't see the S197 in question running better than a mid/low 12 at best.

Agreed and the only thing I'll add is that even if it's a TS or TC - the sad reality is that the majority of S197 owners sadly seemed to be obsessed with dyno HP. I have come across very few S197's that were truly quick even though some of them made some impressive dyno numbers. Most of them seemed to be focused on what it will make on the dyno and not putting it to the ground. Few seem to realize that hooking is #1 and power is 2nd. Based on the fact he rolls on 20's I cannot imagine it being even close. I think you will walk him easily from a dig.

Very true. It's just that the majority of my internet forum time has been spent in S197 forums so it's where I've been seeing it the most. But you are right and I'm not singling them out cause it's common with most newer car owners. (newer = 1980+)
My nephew is 17, a ricer and knows jack about cars (drives a riced out Altima). I took him for a ride in my STI and he thought it was the fastest car ever made. He actually said, "this thing must be faster than your Corvette!". I just laughed.
This manager must have been in only one semi-quick car in his life - his cousin's - and he probably thinks it's greased lightning. Everything points to it being what everyone else is predicting, but there is that *slight* chance it could be the real deal. If I were a betting man, I'd say it isn't though.

And Bick, a lot of kids around here go throughexactly what you described. They learn to drive in their moms mini van or they drive an old civic, then get behind the wheel of bone stock 5.0 fox and think its the fastest thing on the road. They just have never driven anything withg real torque before.
