Default launch tutorial

Newb alert here (me)!

I tried launching my car for reals today a few times (manual 06GT). Revved up to 3500-4000 and then slipped out the clutch. Seemed to do alright thought I did spin the tires a little.

This guy says I should be trying to launch at 1500rpm though? It's with a Corvette. Does the same go for my car?

every car is different, and that was a pretty bad launch IMO

yes, if you can launch like you did and not break loose, your doing okay

remember, his car has 400 hp, yours has 300...

ive personally gotten some good launches off idle, just flooring it and letting off the clutch fast, seems to work, and little to no wheelspin...

you cant be sure if what your doing is good until you hit the track and get some 60 foot times, go and try a bunch of different launches and see what works

I start on the high end for numbers-sake. 5k and sidestep the clutch and see if the track will hold it. Then work my way down, working in clutch feather and pedal as needed.

Well my track isn't open yet and I can't always get out there to practice. So what I did yesterday was find a long two lane road with no traffic and few people (and cops) around.

I get the point though. If I can refine my technique such that I can get decent launches at a lower RPM then it's probably a little easier on the car. But I'm new at this so cut me some slack..

well if he got a 12.5 1/4 mile run and a 4.2 0-60 on a crappy country road and not at a preppedtrack i think thats pretty good for a stock ls2 c6.
