I think it is getting out of hand, the average person does not need a 300 hp daily driver....give it a few more years and the hp levels will be scaled back again
tell that to these middle aged "speed racers" who use the pedal like an on/off switch. I've almost been creamed coming off the onramp @ 100+ mph because the person in the right lane thinks they're going to outrun me in their taurus. Centri blower curve ftw.

ya there will always be a market for performance cars but as fuel pricescontinue to rise I think that is what is going to drive peoples buying desicisions more than hp

Ford marches to the beat of their own drum... always has, always will. I can't say it's a bad thing... they didn't have to put their car on hold to get out of bad deals they made to produce it.

I'm personally happy that an accord comes with that much power. The insurance company bends you over and rapes you, if you even mention Mustang, SRT-4, Camaro etc. Sinse the Accord isn't considered a performance car they get there insurance rates like any other family car.......Meaning cheap.

True, but, my insurance on my GT with two people, full coverage, and second to lowest deductibles is damn cheap through state farm.

The block is going to be Al, hence the 3550ish lbs. I think certain parts of the engine will be forged, but nothing like the cobra. Either forged, or one hell of a tune as you said 03.

10 Mustang GT with 400hp/360tq 5.0L 4v/6M ~3550-3600lbs

The GT500 will be more powerful than it is now.
Even IF they still use the same engine, remember the R/D is in it for up to around 600hp

these numbers are from reliable sources

I kinda agree w/ this post. Although they are always kinda behind, it's nice to see someone who can refrain from jumping on the bandwagon. As much as I can't believe I'm saying this, the whole 'horsepower war' thing has gotten too carried away. I think the main culprit is how large and heavy cars have gotten. It's refreshing to see makers like Lotus, Porsche, and Honda make cars that are still light and relatively modestly powered......

Its not a mod motor its a Boss. No interchnagable parts and much wider bore centers.
Its as much a Mod Motor as a LS is a Small block Chevy....

It sucks, but that's life man. Hell, the new Z is going to have approx. 325-350 out of a V6. That's going to suck.

Someone from Ford, said the 2010 mustang GT, will be a 5.0, 4V, 400 Hp and 360 Tq and weigh around 3550-3600 lbs. With a 6Spd.
so whos this mystery man thats giving out the specs on the new mustang? is it a reliable source?

seems like everything with the new mustang motor and f-150 boss motors is mostly hear-say... so the time being anyway
