made my first trip to the track this year (cordova il)i ran a few times with street tires and then switched over to m/t street dr's. my times didn't change much i though with dr's i would see .3 -.5 off my et's. some one give my some help.

i was running the dr's with 18 psi some other guys were running lower psi and went up to 18-20 psi and they were running better there. it was sunny and 75 degrees. i was doing a burn out for 5-7 seconds. i was not spinning on take off. i waslaunching to 2000 rpm ( my car is an auto). any idea why i couldn't hit 11's and why my 60' was only .1 faster. any info. will help, i am going back to the track on 4/25 and am hoping to hit high 11's.


i wanted to add this as general info........on race 4 or 5 i ran with a 07 z06. i ran 12.2 @113. he ran 12.5 @120. he was coming strong but it felt good to win over a car at about twice the price. thats why i bought the stang.....

I usally type nice times but your times look fishy compared to what I'm used to seeing on a supercharged car with your power level. Your street tire time are way off. Youran a 12.1on street tires??? Please post the slips or a video of these runs. Sorry to be a Doubting Thomas.

 

That, and the better 60' would have shaved off more than a tenth....

 

i don't know how to "prove" my times. i only have a lap top computer so i cant post my slips if someone can help i will be happy to post the 8 slips that i have. i dont know why i would need to make up times. i am not tring to praise myself. i am pissed because after my street tire runs i was expecting better times with the drs. you say my street tire times are "way off" want does a 420 rwhp gt normally run on street tires??? maybe cordova needs to recalabrate their equipment. i ran from a 12.8 to a 12.1 with 60' from 2.1 to a 1.8 on stock tires and on drs i ran 12.22 to a 12.04 with 60' from 1.81 to a 1.79. i wasn't expecting my 2nd and 3rd to bego this way i just figured i would hear you need to do this or that, but there has to be some negative with the positive..... anyone that wants to help please respond. if anyone on here will be going to cordova on friday 4/25 let me know so i can "prove " to bluebeastsrt and sarge_13 that the times i typed are correct. thanks

 

Maybe you didn't launch hard enough. The DRs should have the potential to grip better at higher rpm launchesif heated properly.

 

If you have a digital camera just take a couple pics...
no need to get all defensive we're just asking for a little proof

 

With a stock converter DR's aren't worth much, you can't get enough rpm to build the power to use the extra traction, unless you have serious low rpm traction issues to begin with.

 

His times actually look good. It's where it should be. Most guys posting time slips with blown S197s ****ing suck. If you're running mid+ 12s with a blown S197 at 10 pounds I'm sorry but you need to reevaluate your driving/tune.

A bit surprised he hooked so well with street tires and an S/C. Sounds like you need a converter so you can launch harder on the MTs.

 

Lets just see the slips. He running times on street tires most cant get with drag radials. And usally when someone get defensive that quick there is usally something up. I mean you dont find it strange that theres only a 1/10 difference between his street tire time & his DR. time. Face it, If you can launch that good on street tires you'd be a launching demon once the race rubber goes on.
