So a guy I know that lives a few doors down owns an 01 Camaro Z28 LS1. We always have conflicting schedules, and never have the time to ever get out. So tonight we went out and cruised to look for some car shows.

I want to give a little background on this. We always pass each others house and rev the engine, and we always taunt each other, but have never ran each other.

Him: 01 Camaro Z28 Auto LS1 with a flowmaster catback.
Me: 03 Mustang GT vert 5spd (check sig for mods)

So we pull out of the neighborhood and get up to the light right outside our development. We both agreed we'll go to 60MPH and shut down (to many cops out to do an all out run). The light turned green, we launched even and I pulled a half car and started to pull away, then we both stopped because we got to 60mph.

We tried again, and same results. It was a fun time, but now we're setting up to go to the 1/8th mile track sometime soon. I'll be getting vids.

He was shocked I did as good as I did. He's definitely got a sweet looking ride, and he definitely is a good driver. But now after tonight, he wants more mods

So I guess that's +2 for me against LSx's! First the CTS-V, now this Camaro with the LS1. This helps out because I still have a bruised ego from losing to that real beat looking Civic that tore me a new a$$ a few months back! [&o]

 

A race to 60!!!

Regardless I pulled and was pulling more. That's usually a good thing if I'm faster 0-60mph right

 

Had you actually run a real race, he would have pulled you like crazy. The longer the race, the worse it is for you against an LS1.
My car hits 55 in first gear. You really cannot chalk this one up as a "win", it's like foot racing Michael Johnson for 8 feet and then stopping. "I beat you to the kitchen, I'm faster!"[8D]

 

I'd of bet the farm on the ellisjuan...Give me a breakdown of how the launches went please.

Short races don't always favor those of us with tall gearing. I'm doing just under 60 at the top of 1st. Also you have to consider that the LS1 prolly has longer legs on the top end. What ground it loses in the 1st 8th it may easily make up with interest in the last 1/8th.

 

The LS1 will catch up even before the end of the first 1/8th. I am very interested in seeing timeslips.

You guys should race at an actual 1/4mi strip. The outcome would be radically different(provided clean launches and equal driving).

 

Surely you jest...what gear are you in when you cross the stripe in the 1/4?
