LeBaron vs. Mustang
i really doubt it. you can beat him if you launch good.
practice!
how to launch a sixxer for dummies-
1. press hard on the brake
2- slowly bring up RPMs until jsut before rear tire starts spinning
3- when you want to go, slam gas to floor, release brake
4- tire will spin slightly, and car will launch
and D2D for dummies(firmer shift to 2nd)
0- keep car in D
1- at 48-4900rpm in first gear, bring shifter back to 2
3- hold there until 5000
4- shift back up
practice some on both of those, and you will at least give him a hard run

Just left foot brake hard, build some revs just before green and then take foot off brake and immediately mash the gas at the same time. Practice by yourself if you have to, get good at it, then kick some ***!
Most likely the LeBaron is a 2.5L 4 cyl turbo.
These are mid 15 stock w an auto or bottom 15's with a 5 spd.
The turbo Dodges are easily turned up and very basic to work on.
The V6 is high 15's to mid 16's.
If you are lucky it's a n/a 4 cylinder and you will beat that.

Yeah the turbo 4cyl's are kind of quick. I had an 89 turbo 4cyl.
My 85.5 Daytona Turbo Z used to hang with lightly modded Fox 5.0's. Those are the cars you need to watch out for!....................well, only if their 5spd's.

kinda funny this thread came up. I just saw in the local trading post an '88 Lebaron conv. 4cyl turbo for sale. 122k miles, "garage kept", for only $1500. I actually entertained the idea of calling about it, still just might.....
Your friend is more than likely full of ****. There is no 3.5 lebaron and it would an insane amount of money to try to make one fast. I would bet money on you winning the race. If he is telling the truth then he has a swapped motor, new trans, aftermarket SC, etc, and you would have no chance, but I doubt thats the case.
As crazy as it sounds , Places make turbo kits for the 2.5 Labaron. Check this kit out from forward motion. They promise 300 to the wheels with a proper set-up.[8D]That would be a crazy sleeper.
