My thoughts: You think you're funny.
lmao, so much for my credibility. Anyway, I took some pics of the magazine for you guys. You cant read the article becuase its too small, but you can clearly see on the cover "6.2-LITER 400-HP V-8"

I'll be back in about 20 minutes, gonna go pick this one up

I've heard some rumors of this too. According to what I hear they will start a new family of V8s(sort of similar to the Modular line) but with more displacement or some ****. We'll see.

So, I got my new issue of Car & Driver today. And the cover caught my eye, has the new 2010 mustang, same basic body style. But they claim the 2011 model will have a 6.2L 400bhp V8.

Assuming the weight is about the same as the current S197. This thing could seriously compete with the new Z28. Hard to guestimate a 1/4 time as we dont know everything thats changed, but it looks like a 12 second car.

Any thoughts?

maybe the z28 thats going to have 430 hp if the mustang can keep the weight low enough, but i don't think it will compete with the ss model thats getting the new cts-v engine at 550 hp

I was gonna trade in my 01 GT at the end of this year for something, but I might have to wait if this rumor is true.

If this is truly what the car will look like, there will be one in my driveway the day they are available (and I don't mean mass production, I'll be one of the first to own one, if I have to pay for it now, that doesn't matter)

That new mustang looks like absolute, pure, unadulterated sex, the lines are so beautiful, true to the original mustangs, and my god, a 390CID in a mustang? Sign me up please.

It's called the BOSS/Hurricane engine family. The Modular supposedly isn't capable of meeting the emission/mileage requirements for 2010 and later so Ford had to design a whole new engine. Still an OHC engine, but the displacement will range from as small as 5.0L to as large as 7.0L, and it slated to be introduced in the F-150's as the 6.2L. There's conjecture as to whether or not the Mustang will get a 6.2L or a 5 or maybe a 5.5L or something, but it's looking like it will be the 6.2L as a base V8 in the Mustang as well(though knowing Ford they'll prolly go smaller). It uses VDE(Variable Displacement Engine) technology, similar to GM's Displacement on Demand, in order to meet the mileage requirements. Apperantly the only holdup in releasing the BOSS/Hurricane 6.2L is the refinement of the VDE, which Ford has considered an absolute must. But it seems like the Mustang may FINALLY get a decent sized engine.
