speeding ticket
Although this isnt a race i didnt know what forum to post this in otherwise. So sorry if it isnt i just need some help here.
I got a speeding ticket in Vermont (i live in CT, go to college in VT) for doing 40 in a 25, the only reason i was going that fast was because i could see the sign and sped up. Im contesting this in court in a bout 2 weeks and was wondering if any one else had contested one in Vermont before. In Vermont the cop actually has to show up to the hearing and if he doesnt you are automatically off. The court house is half an hour from the town. Do the cops actually show up to this things? Is a cop going to drive an hour total out of his way for a 10 min hearing for a $144 speeding ticket? I woudlnt think he would even go. They give you a second chance to pay it when they send you the court date and i was wondering if it was worth the drive up there to get off. Im not concerned about the ticket price but how it will go on my insurance.
Thanks for any help, and sorry again if this doesnt meet the forum critiria for street/strip and if it doesnt please let me know where to post, im just looking for some help and dont belong to any other forums.

Least risky thing to do is to turn your ticket over to a law firm that specializes in fixing traffic tickets. They'll have your 15 over knocked down to loud muffler. You'll have to pay court costs and their fee but that's cheaper than points and the insurance rate increase.
You can't count on the fact that the cop won't show and some judges like to throw the max at citizens with the chutzpah to challenge Johnny Law. Bastages! [:@]

so let me get this straight....... you were accelerating to 45mph from a 25mph zone as you saw the "45mph sign"?
If so in FL... if the SPD limit is posted within 75yds 'i believe' you can accell the speed limit to complete the posted up 'posting' speed limit.... for example from a 30mph to a 45mph.... you're goin 32mph..... 50yrds before the posted '45mph' speed limit, you can accell to reach the '45mph speed limit'...... "at least this is what i've been told many times, but never tried it 'too many tickets, AND 2 RISKY'
my advice.... some lawyers are FREE consultations, see what he/she has to say.
other then that---- go to court, dress nicely, say what you did, speak your side.... and let it be...
& PRAY

Yeah, I got pulled over no more then 100 feet from the sign, which is only about 33 yards, so i thought he was just being an a-hole and saw my out of state licensce plate and decided to pull me over as quick as possible before i got out of the 25
I wasnt very clear on it, but I saw the 40 sign and he gave me a ticket for 41. I was pulled over with in 100 feet of the sign that says speed limit 40. So i guess technically i was still in the 25, but what an ahole for pulling me over. Probably just because im from out of state. He blew a U instantly and pulled me over so fast. He didnt want me to get out of the 25. I have never been so mad.
