A BOAT THAT WILL FLY!
That's kind of a two sided deal for Ford though. One the one hand, Aston Martin/Land Rover represented to them debt they could get rid of, though to tell you the truth, it was the only luxury brand ford had that was selling even moderately well. Aston Martin and Land Rover were selling more cars than Jaguar was for a while there, though they DID cost more to operate as a business unit than Jaguar did. On the other hand, they'll probably wish they hadn't when the new Vanquish RS debuts on the track next year and starts challenging the Ford GT. I'm not sure if the Vanquish would even be in the same cup class as the FR500, but I'd be willing to bet the RS would hand it it's *** on the track.
I think Ford's new management does indeed have something coming down the pike, though I hope they don't chicken out and neuter it before-hand like they tried to do to the stang the last time a big energy crisis came down the pike in the late 70's and early 80's. I'd have to agree with Rebel in that if they don't get off their butts soon they're going to loose the performance war in a way that'll take them 20 years and cost them millions if not billions in lost revenue to recover from.

If you mean the mustang vs camaro/firebird power war, it's never gonna happen. Ford purposely makes the V6 and GT mustang cheaper than the V6/Z28/Trans Am in their respective categories for sales, but the mustang top model(SVT Cobra,GT500, or whatever comes next)will always be the competitor of the top models(f-bodies, but I don't think there gonna be called that anymore) and beat them.TheGT500/Cobra/Cobra R/SVTCobra/XXXXwill evenpossibly be a base model vette competitor. That's how it's been the past 15-20yrs about and that's how it will be in the future.

Performance war as in Jaguar cars and Ford GT performance cars right?
