Mid 13s is definetely more than enough to put a car length or three on an LT1. They are 14.0 cars stock with pretty strong top end once they get in the triple digits. It probably would've of been a tighter race if he had of held it down from a dig. Peak torque comes in at 2k for those guys.
I don't know if it's just that I'm used to it, or what. But, it doesn't feel like I have a whole lot of topend. Down low is where it's at with these cars. And you're close on where we hit peak torque. It's actually 2500rpm. It sure makes launching a b*tch though. Oh well. After I get paid either today or tomorrow, I'll have some Nitto DR's on their way to my door to help me out a little.

I've never been able to get away from one to terribly much in my Mach once we got over 100mph. Their extra liter and tall final drive (2.72-3) helps keep them closer to their power band, not to mention the aerodynamics are'nt too bad either. I'm not saying they are comparable to an SRT-8 or Vette's top end, I'm just saying they do pretty decent.
The 2.73s definitely help. But the LT1 was known for it's vicious bottom end...

Not a lot of power but all of hit was available with very low rpms..

Did you happen to read tspence's post literally like three above this?
He actually has an LT1 and actually has a lot of information about it.

Negative, I missed Tspences until just now..... 2500rpm=peak torque, lots of low end compared to top end, nittos on the way, etc.[:@]

When we speak of top end, are we talking trap speeds or how hard a car pulls past the 1/4 mile?

I'm talking like how hard it's pulling once I get into upper 4th and so on. So, that'd be after the 1/4 mile basically. To me, it doesn't feel like it pulls hard past that point. But, I've always been a little scared to take it past 120-125 anyways. I don't really want to get caught. The only times I've really taken it that high is when racing anyways. I've never really tried a top speed run or anything.
