^^

I like the looks of the 05+ too.

With a better rear suspension that car would be a street nightmare.

Ahhhh... thought so.. I'm not quite too sure what I think of the looks.. I do like them for the most part, but they DO look like a grand am on steroids.. I know they're basically the same car for the most part, but I tend to like the Vauxhall/Holden Monaro's better at least aesthetically anyway. I have to admit though that the new goats interior is a lot nicer than the mach's is..

The suspenion though is an easy enough problem to fix with a few upgrades.. a couple grand in suspension work with a ported H/I and a cam upgrade with a good tune and you're easily seeing over 400 to the wheels with an LS2..

So many nice toys and so little cash.. [&o]lol Almost makes me wish I didn't work for the MI establishment.. [:@]

I know ls1s are fast and should not have any trouble beating a 1997 cobra with a K&N filter and Mac exhaust. My friend has a 2000 TA automatic With the slp intake and flowmasters we always race for fun out in the cuts. I always seem to beat him by a car lenght be by dig or roll. I also raced a 2001 TA ws6 auto and there was no diff in performance from my friends TA. Is a 6 speed much faster than an automaic, and should my cobra be beatin those cars with just a K&N filter and mac exhaust. I also raced a gto ram air and we where going side by side. My question is do you guys think the last owner of the car might of put gears or tuned the car. Cause when i bought the car the mac exhaust was already on it.
What are your RPM's in 5th gear at 45MPH?

We both have the same 5th gear ratio, and with my 3.55's its turning about 1500 RPMS at 45MPH and2000 RPM by 63-64MPH. That should give you some idea. A 97 Cobra came stock with 3.27's.

LOl the owner put an ls1 on my cobra. Well about the gto i dont know what year it was. I'll check the rpms at 45 mph, and i'll load some pictures of my engine as soon as i figure out how to post them.

Just like the old gto's were just a LeMans/Tempest with bigger engine and some body mods.

You don't need ported heads or intake to take a ls2 over 400 rwhp, that is done easy with a cam swap and bolt ons

This is true, I didn't think of that one.. I guess I just don't dig the whole grand am look too much is all. lol And to be honest, I was never a big fan of the tempest/LeMans look either.. The T/A's and Firebird's were always my favorites, along with the 69 and 70 Olds 442's..

Regarding the engine though, I suppose I'm just **** like that.. whenever I do engine work, I usually prefer to get it all done at once, money permitting, and in that case, porting the H/I could pretty much be done at the same time as the cam upgrade, especially if you're getting a custom ground cam, though that's a little expensive. The bolt on route with a cam upgrade as you said is just as good even though it's not required to top 400rwhp.. The way the LS2 heads flow, with a ported H/I, and an agressive cam plus bolt-ons with a tune, and I would wager you'd see close to 500 to the wheels if not a little over..

Well you might have gears and a tune. but the 2001 ta ws6 has just about the same hp and tq. you have 305hp and 300 tq if stock. and 2001 ta ws6 has 325hp and 350tq. but i think the ta weighs more. as for the gto what year if it was 2004 the were lacking in power 350hp but weighed like a tank. i think around 4000lbs. a 2005 gto different story you would need more than gears and cai and exhaust to pull on one of those. those cars are bad ***.
Get ur fact straights man, you are badly misinformed

Ehhh.. I'd agree with ya for the most part Caci, though he's only partially wrong on the goat.. The 05 goats didn't weigh quite 4,000lbs I don't think, but close enough.. and he WOULD need more than gears (unless he chose to run something insane like a 4.56), CAI and exhaust to pull on an LS2 goat.. It's be close, but if you add DR's and and an LT/mid combo to that, that might do it methinks if the driver mod is good enough..
