just race him and find out. i too think the 4.6 would get you but if you were to get some budget gt40 h/i then the tables would turn

I would put the 4.6 also if you had some heads to go with that cam then it would prolly be no question but the 05 has 300 hp + his bolt ons and you start with like what 240 + cam and bolt ons. and also from what i have heard the new 3v's bolt on add on some pretty good power

You better get some heads..With just small bolt ons (like cai ,ect..), the 05+ gt's can run low 13's easily.

the only that hurts the new ones is their weight

the 4.6 will win because it's a 3v, i know this because ive raced them plenty of times from a dig, and numerous rolls. now if you get a 4.6 2v to race you then that would be a better match. but the 3v's have too much power for a stockish fox to beat them
like I said ive beaten them with just bolt ons.. plus you have an 86 vert, not exactly the fast fox with bolt ons
i thought the same the first time i raced them turns out the people couldn't drive that 4.6 right. i actually beat my OWN car while driving a STOCK 06 gt. and the person driving my car is drag races for a living and has a 9 sec fox. and has drivin my car countless times. decribe how much you "beat" the 3v by

2005 will win easy. 99+ would win as well easy.

Been there done that, with all of them.

No offense to any fox owners... But imo fox's are slow as **** in stock form. A few things make them a sh*t load better, but stock everything, intake, air box, exhaust they just seem like slugs to me. Every stock 5.0 i've rode in with stock exhaust didn't feel to great, even mine. Just getting an exhaust & ditching the air box (not sure if that helped much at all) seemed to pick up quite a bit.

Gears didn't seem to make my car any faster when i did them, but it did make it seem like it was alot faster because it seemed like my 3rd was the same ratio as what my 2nd used to be. But that was also after I had done a bit of work & with a 5spd. Never ran the c4 with 2.73's. You have to have suspension to have gears help or a slug already.

I've never had any problems when racing a 96-07 mustang gt in the least, but I never raced one with a stock mustang either. I'd say the 4.6 is going to be quite a bit quicker if your car is 100% stock.

just my .02
