The 3v's are pretty quick in stock form and respond very well to tuning. Some of the guys in S&S are getting low 13's out of totally stock cars with some sick driving. I also personally watched a guy (AmericanSpeed here) run a 12.98 with nothing other than a tune. All these time are on the factory tires BTW. This isn't really the norm but the s197s are pretty quick cars if you drive them properly.

The new v6's can keep up with a fox with a couple of small bolt ons thru the first couple of gears but after that the fox is gone. The new gt's are kick *** cars if they were not so heavy. I would still rather have a 351 in my car though. Lets see them keep up then lol................till I run out of gas lol...

My money would be on the 4.6. I like foxes better, but they arent much with just bolt-ons..

Lol... 351's still share the same problem though. They suck in stock form + they're about 100lbs heavier than 5.0 They're all kinds of awesome with some bolt ons though

I'd agree with you in stock form, but with bolt ons I don't see how they "aren't much". I run 12's with 255 street tires & zero suspension work on mostly junkyard parts. Stock bottom end still. Ran 12's with gt40 heads from an explorer & 12's with home ported e7's.
Not sure if a cam counts as a "bolt on" but since it only cost me $90 I consider the x303 a cheap upgrade

I was just saying the 5.0 is slow stock, modified it can get pretty nasty if done right.

I personally love the 4.6 & the 5.0. I prefer the 5.0 because of how fast I can tear it down, neither one is hard to work on, but the 5.0 is a bit easier & I can take it apart faster.
None compare to the 2.3 though! I had an efi 2.3 disconnected & out of a car & on an engine stand it 20 minutes Those are CAKE.

After the normal upgrades, relocations, and weight loses that extra 100lbs in the engine bay is pretty un noticable. And hell yea a 351 with a HCI can be vicous. I remember R. Barns 351 he hah/has in his vert. Put out almost 500hp N/A. It will be the setup I plan on doing with the next motor I build.
I love working on my motor. I can reach everything from pretty much anyplace. I was working on a WS6 yesterday and it took me 20 mins to get a wire hooked up on the alt. because its stuffed up under the car. Not to mention working on SRT4's and other FWD cars .

Yea I changed an alt and a power steering pump (which are partial to going out on them) on that car before and the alt ended up dying a week later and the guy changed it himself and pulled the wire out of its connector on top and I had to fix that for him to get it up and going again. Hes lucky I didn't charge him for that part lol. They are decent cars but a pain to work on.

I beat an 08 Saline (Sp?) in my car in the eighth mile by 2 thousandths of a second. And Ibabied itbig time off the line to prevent it from spinning. When I get the posi, some 3.55s or 3.25s, and the drag radialsill be alot better off.

My fox is lighty modded, full exhaust, CAI intake, cam, and sub frame connectors, and when I race my buddy with his tuned, CAI, and full exhaust S197gt it's murder. By the end of first gear he is already gone, and I don't stand a chance of catching his ***. Don't underestimate the 3vs, with a tuner and a mid pipe back exhaust it will put a hurtin on stock/ lightly modded foxs. All this assuming the driver knows how to drive the car.
