BolognaPony: It's obvious you don't care for making friends in here. Just keep in mind, that even these non-Mustangers in here are vets to the forum and are very knowledgable to the cause. One day, they may be able to provide you with some info you need or could use in one way or another.

Well, back to the topic: Just because they have a BOV, I wouldn't be scared. Most people add BOVs to their cars because they like the sound it makes; understandably so, because I think it sounds pretty damn cool, myself. I have yet to lose to an SRT4 in any car I've had, but that's just because I haven't come across the right one. I wouldn't feel too bad, because some of those cars run really hard; and your car is stock. Get some 3.73s! Gears are the biggest bang for the buck, if you ask me. Asides from NO2, but I'm talking about mods you can use all day, every day.

gears sound like a great upgrade (i didn't buy a gt because i wanted fantastic fuel milage, and i don't really feel the need to go 150 miles an hour on the highway), and seem affordable, but i can't seem to find a place that would install them for a decent price. i'm on a very tight budget right now and am buying used go-fast parts that i can install myself (just bought a mac prochamber), and can't afford to pay a shop a couple hundred dollars to install a $129 set of gears. if you have any suggestions, i'd appreciate it.

 

Well, you may want to start a post on the performance section of the forum. Gears are one of those few mods that will costs you more to put than they actually cost. If you don't know how to shim them properly, they will hum and annoy the hell out of you.

I suggest you save up, and pay the $250-$350 people charge to put them in. It hurts, I know. However, WORTH IT!

Btw, I didn't get a GT to go 150mph on the highway. I got it to get to 150 that much faster. Honestly, what made me fall in love with Stangs as a kid, was hearing those 5.0s with FlowMasters on them. I've been hooked on Mustang phonics ever since. Since a V6 (even modded to the *****) will never sound like that, I'm against it.

i probably should be asking this in performance, but since we're on the subject, i'm auto, so if i buy gears should i go with 4.10s instead of 3.73s?
