I've always put headers on my V8 cars and downpipes on my 4 bangers and not once was it easy.

So its finally time to do some mods to the ole goat. The car is a bone stock 04 LS1 m6 gto with 15k miles. It is not daily driven, but I dont want to do mods that will make it a pain to dd if I need to use it. So will headers cause any drivablity issues? Or will it be just a louder, more powerful stock feeling?

I was looking at pacesetter headers....any good?

Linky:

Is this a project that I can do myself with basic hand tools and some mechanical knowledge? Or should I just take it somewhere to have them installed? I know a new tune will be in order so does anyone know of a good shop in South Florida?

Thanks guys.
my advice to u is, join ls1/ls2gto.com then look for SVTthis, he is a member there.. I installed my SLP long tube headers for only drinks and food . He lives on cocoa beach so it isa nice drive but it is totally worth it. It took them (he and his friend) about 10 hours to do the job on his garage. Totally cool dudes. As far as pacesetters they had a little bit of fitment issues but maybe they fixed it. If i were u i will got for SLP or KOOKs headers along with SLP Diablo Custom tuned for your headers. Your car will be really really really loud but you will love it

i put long tubes on a s197 gt in about an hour and a half from rack to start up.

the gto took 5.5 hours. granted i couldnt do it on a lift because the car was lowered and had side exhaust so i had to do it over the pit which really made things harder.

headers and a tune will make it a better dd. gas mileage will increase and you will gain 30 rwhp. no pacesetters. go arh or kooks.
why?
well i put arh and a tune and picked up 30 rwhp over stock tune. go to the ls1gto forum and see what everyone else is running. go 1 7/8 longtube. when you put more mods on you car and you will. they will do just fine. just a opinion. you asked.

I hate installing headers. If you don't mind busted knuckles and speaking phuckanese for the day you'll be fine. Otherwise I'd say have someone else do it for you.

LOL

How many mpg do you pick up in the city and highway with LT headers and tune? I'm curious. And maybe just a tune (or cai/tune) how many mpg would you pick up?
