Noice!!! I am gonna enjoy telling all the dodgies at school that a bug smoked a viper!
um, the viper still won the 1/4, but the bug won the 1/8th... I wouldn't say the bug smoked the viper but it atleast did better in the 1/8th. Notice that reaction time and 60ft time played a huge part as well.

no the VW won...the viper got the faster time but the VW got to the end of the 1/4 first...its called heads up racing

The Viper either had a really really really bad driver or had bicycle tires on the back. Trapping 115.9 for a 13.1s run? That sucks.

Yea, with a 116 mph trap, the car should be deep in the 11's. Also the guy ran several 12 sec passes after that.

I think what happen is that he saw he got tree'd, got worried that a bug might out run him, got in the throttle too deep and smoked the tires.

If we raced ten more times, he would more then likely win all ten.

And I did win, even though his ET was lower. You have to add the RT and the ET together for time to the finish line. I got the win light, that's what matters in heads up racing.

Bug only won the 1/8th because the viper smoked the tires. If not the bug would of easily gotton smoked.

Which is a completely legitimate way to win. Racing isn't all about who is faster, it's who the better driver is. The viper had a bad launch and its not the bugs fault, its the driver of the viper. Pretty much winning is winning and the fact that a VW bug won a Dodge Viper is just awesome

Nice win TDi

Yeah but who was racing the 1/8? Viper still won. And the better driver ONLY is a factor if the cars are equal or close in quickness. In this case, not even in the same league.

The Viper did not win, sorry. The VW crossed the line first without redlighting. The end.
As far as the driver not being a factor, it appears that the VW's ET was only a small fraction of a second slower than the almighty Viper's. The driver was definitely a factor there.
I lost to a Plymouth Laser once by falling asleep at the line. I had a better ET, but his holeshot advantage more than made up for it. Even though I ran faster, I do not consider myself the winner. He won.

How is the VW a small fraction of a second slower than the Viper? The Viper (depending on the year) runs anywhere from low 12's to mid 11's, STOCK!!!! ANd even with the driver very poor skills, he still crossed the finish line first. So the driver is not the factor in a race like this. VW is close to the Viper. How could you talk so ridicilous.

He means in this particullar case, the VWs ET was close to the Vipers. The reason the Viper had a low ET is the drivers skill. Drivers skill always plays a factor in every race. In this case the driver of the Viper was unable to get the car down the track quick enough, and he lost.
