My god. I just noticed you have Nitto drag radials outback on a car with more than 1000hp. That shouldn't even be legal.

LOL - yeah - those are my street tires. I use bogarts at the track. I just switched from the MT ET Drags. I really think the launch problems many are having with big power on these cars is the soft sidewall of the MT. These cars are damn near 4000 lbs (mine is 4080) and with the size tire we are limited to, we need a stiff sidewall. Just about everyone running the MT slicks aren't using tubes either.

I have just switched to the Goodyear Dragway Specials (29x12/15) and I am going to run them with tubes and bead screws. The D3 compound was made for heavy cars and they have a stiff sidewall. I really think (hoping) this set-up is going to work great...

Street tires you say? Does that thing even belong on the street anymore?!

I bet you run low tension rings with a vacuum pump and have to change plugs/oil every time you drive it.

I can drive the car on the street and do often. Round trips to Famoso (200 miles) several times.

Believe it or not, the reason this car has been so costly is because I have always been committed to making power in a true street driven car. That has usually been a curse to the wallet, but what I have always wanted to do with this particular car.

Frankly, even when I was running low 10's with the KB on the stock block - it was never really impressive to the people that mattered to me. (seasoned racers) - another 9 sec car - whoopty whoop.

Why the car was/is impressive is because they knew I drove it to the track, changed the back tires and ran. Sometimes I drove on DR's and didn't even change tires - just drove through tech and lined up. At the end of the night I'd pass guys in their trailers with the music blasting and the AC on. That's what has always made my car 'special' (to me anyway)

If I can't drive it to the track, it's useless IMO if it ain't running 8.50 or better...

granted, this has been an expensive task (I'm on my 3rd motor and 4th power adder to find the right combo) - trying to make it streetable with a big turbo was the WORST adventure I wish I could take back but overall - it has been fun for me and if it ain't fun - it ain't worth doing to me...

Actually, after I make some runs and the mag articles come out, I'm planning on selling the car and starting over. I want to build a pro street car next with the new body style.

Some guys like blowing money at strip clubs - I just like blowing my money building cars...lol
