Any reason why? Just curious, never launched a stock-ish GT on DR's.

Good idea

If you have the OEM wheels they are only 8.5" wide. Nitto's for track only use are a big mistake IMO and they dont make a tire in 18" approved for less then a 9.5" rim. IMO that is too much for the stock size.

BELIEVE ME I'VE SEARCHED FOR A YEAR AND A HALF!

For the stock rims the 265/40/18 is the best choice of DR, and now only MT makes it.

depends on which ones.... the Nitto needs a really good burnout, the MTs a good first and then just a bit for the added passes.

When you suggested to mash the gas, I would imaging at that point for the burnout while being in neutral you would be bouncing the rev limiter.

If I do indeed have 8.5" rims, wouldnt I be better off with the MT P245/40R18 if I stay with that same size rim?

NO! Its only a 25.8" tall tire, the 265/40 is a 26.5 tall tire, closet to stock. additionally you want to put the most rubber (generally) on the road as you can

well now I'm confused... if your gonna get a set of 17s to race only, then dont spend the $ to get the DRs on the 18s - unless u can use them 24/7/365 and u dont use the car in rain/snow.

for 17s, u can get OEM takeoffs 17x8 here:

http://www.newtakeoff.com/mustangwhe...llitteach.aspx

or get some 17 x 9s here:

http://www.americanmuscle.com/2005-a...x9-wheels.html

the 17x9 will give you a better tire choice

if your patient u could probably find them on ebay/craigs list from time to time for less

17x9 rims are very common and can be found for reasonably cheap. Thats what I run with hoosier dr's. But you can run mickeys, hoosiers, bfg, and m&h will fit that rim. Don't speak of nitto's again and you will be in the right direction.

Basically all I will be doing is taking off my rear stock 18s the same day of the race and putting on new DRs for the drive to the track and to race. When I get home, off they come and back on with the 18s.

1. 17x9 a wiser choce then 17x8?

2. It will be ok to run 18s in front and 17s in rear?

3. Best tire choice for my 17xX setup?

Thanks

I'm running a 28 x 13.50 on a 15x8 tire. It bulges, but it fits still
