I wouldn't say my truck is fast, but it's pretty damned quick. 5" lift, carb, cam, intake manifold, 14x4" K&N open filter, headers, full exhaust, 35" tires, ~5500lbs curb weight.
FWIW it's a 3-speed auto and it'll only shift once if I'm racing up to legal speeds - 2nd will pull 60 easy.
Lingenfilter (sp) built a Suburban back in the early 90's that ran 0-60 in 4.2 in 4wd, 4.3 in 2wd.
Dodge made the Lil Red Truck (1/2 ton 2wd Ram) back in the 70's and their experimental one had different heads than the production version and iirc it did the 1/4 in ~13
