Spanked a Cobra
Well, I'm sure someone will trash talk this post. I love Mustangs, just can't afford one right now.
So, the day after I get dyno tuned in Denver, (377whp, 336torque, running rich as hell only on 18psi) this 1997 Cobra pulls up next to me. He asks me how much money I had, I told him that he didnt want a shot at my money. He told me he was bone stock. Later I found out that he has: Cold air, headers, H-pipe, Borla exhaust, 4:10 gears, short shifter, Nitto 555s, chipped (no clue what kind). I'm really not sure how fast he is. I think up here in denver, a Cobra with those mods would run low 13s. To continue the story, we did a 10mph punch, he jumped ahead by a car, and then by the time I got to 6000rpms in 3rd (bout 85mph), I was about 15 cars in front of him. I shut down after that. At first, I just thought he was a bad driver, but, afterwards he wanted to go again. From what I could tell, he was ripping gears really well. So...
Yeah, there are a few 03 Cobras in Fort Collins that I might get a shot at. But before that, we will turn the boost to 24psi, so that I at least can run a 12.5:1 fuel ratio....vs. 10:1........and obviosly there will be a lot more power with 24psi vs. 18psi. I will keep you guys posted!

nice kill.....but like they said..........a '97 and an '03 are 2 totally different animals man. '03's can turn 12's all day long with a pulley upgrade and a tune.....if they can drive. but, nonetheless, nice win over the '97.
btw, i like your car. looks good.

Yeah, I know how much of a difference it is between the 97s and an 03 or 04. I'm the Prez of a car club at UNC in Greeley. My 2 VP's both have Mustangs. One of them is "Antirice" and the other one has a 1998 GT with a D-1SC procharger, 3" Mac, Diablo, Riechart Intake mani, BBK, bigger Mass, 42lb injectors, etc. Well, he put down 391whp, and over 400torque. When I raced him, I beat him by about 6-7 cars. I have not raced an 03 Cobra yet, everyone that I have talked to said that one with a pulley, exhaust, and chip would be a good race. We will see. I'm just waiting for that stiffer wastegate spring to come in! Turbonetics takes the longest time to get stuff in! Thanks guys!
Fastcbora, no I have not ran one at the track. The funny thing is, if I had raced him at the track, 2 factors would have been benificial to me and sucked for him. #1, I would hook up better (not spin for 3 gears on the street vs. he only spun through 1st, chirped 2nd & 3rd) #2 Bandimere has a mile high altitude (NA's loose way more power vs. Greeley, alt. 4200) Maybe we didnt actually see a time slip, however it would have been way worse for him.
As far as what I run, I dont know yet. I think on 24psi I might be in the mid to low 12s. I dont know, we'll see. Thanks again guys!

Where are you located?
No, I havnt even raced an 03 yet. When I went to get dynoed, the guy right after me had an 03, with a 2.8", 3" exhaust, a predator, and a cold air. He dynoed at 430whp, 450torque...roughly. I'm just saying I think it would be a good race. I will probably loose until I get the stiffer wastegate spring...Im just waiting for Turbonetics to send it. I'm only running 18psi, I cant run more because the spring is too soft. As far as my track times, I was just replying to the guy that said I had an 11sec car. And that is a little far. I think I will hit a 12.5 or better after the spring and boost turned up. Sorry, didnt mean to lead anyone into thinking something different. By the way, whats all done to your ride? Thanks man!
