I think you should get a 'chute just to play it safe.

Yikes I guess I'll just stay off the track until I get my tax return.

no need too.... rip off a few 1/8s and get out... then rip a full pass! I've done that at a TNT as not to get kicked

JUst go and see what happens. Honestly I don't think you will hit a 11.49 the first time out. Your car has the power, but I am going to go out on a limb and say you will run a low 12/high 11. Just based on what I have seen many other blown S197's run. After you get the car dialed in I am sure it will run bottom 11's but that usually takes time, tuning and practice.

If you're going to be running slicks, I hope some of those "goodies" went into building the rear end. And I agree with the people saying to run a couple all out to the 1/8th mile to get it dialed in some, especially if you are afraid you are going to go sub 11.50. Chances are it's going to take a few runs before you get the hang of driving that beast on the track.

In any case, good luck and be careful.

Only 3.73s to the rear end but from what I understand the rear ends on the s197 are strides better then the older models.

Thanks everyone for all the help and tips, my car will be running tomorrow and tuned on sunday by Kevin from diablo sport. I'll be back in the helm on monday.

I don't know about the rear end on the S197 being any better than what we have in the New Edge. It's still an 8.8, and as far as I know, still only a 28 spline setup. I met up with a guy from the forum at the closest 1/4 mile track and he was just running some M/T drag radials and ended up messing up his differential, and he was N/A and low 13's.

I wouldn't do any 5k+ drops on it if I were you.

I really dont know much about upgrading the end other then changing out the axles. What are some other upgrades that you can do to prevent blowing out your rear end?
