C&D did it lightning lap challenge. The unbelievable news......the Stang in any form wasn't even tested.

The good news.....the ACR placed second behind the Mosler which costs three times as much and ahead of the F430 which costs almost as much as the Mosler.

Surprising news....the Cobalt SS placed ninth above cars like the IS F, 135i, Evo, Challenger, WRX, Lotus Elise, and G37

This is the last straw with me and C&D. I have had a subscription with them for many many years. They have pissed me off for the last paid time.......jerks.
The last Mustang (GT500) that they tested in the lightning lap did very well and out performed some of the european cars they love so much! C&D said the mustang was a fast car around the race track and very stable. They then went on to call it a fat piece of An American car will never get a fair shake.

Yeah, but the crazy thing is though The 09 SS/TC has a diff OS than the 08's and the few dynos I have seen stock have them about 28Xwhp/27Xftlbs.I guess the 09 LNF's are under rated like the LSJ's.I wouldn't mind trading in for an 09 but in the end it would be cheaper/alot faster to just go TVS/turbo on mine.
Found the vid of one:

And a couple turbo LSJ's:

I wonder how much it would cost to take the cobalt to that level? bigger turbo etc.. you are probably getting into the s/c 05+ GT price range.. (30k total new)

My SS was right at 22.5K new.The Hahn kit is $4300. So thats ~27K For ~360whp at 2900lbs.
The 09 SS I looked at was employe priced at $23K(if I remember corectly) no idea about the cost of a turbo swap yet. They just started making stuff specificaly for the LNF Cobalt.

Factoring both vehicles being new the Base GT is 26.5K.The Premium GT Starts at 28 something.

As far as the lighting lap I'm sorta disapointed in the Evo X(atleast stock). They have transformed from a badass rally car that can still make low 13 passes stock to more of a luxury car that barely nips 13's stock.

question though.. how about the way the rest of the car holds up? Has anyone heard anything about the tranny, fuel system, motor internals, etc?

People have problems with clutches but usually is because they don't know how to drive the car.Haven't really heard continuous probblems with the tranny and what not(though any car can have a probblem). As far as internals they are pretty stout on the SS/SC so I'm sure it is the same with the SS/TC. To give you an idea this is a guys set up on stock motor on our forum. The only recently had to upgrade his clutch.

440whp 400wtq on 104 octane
future work:
Finally build the damn motor - 550-600whp

Haha, but don't get the idea that all F/I SS's are fast. I'm mildly modded and probably only have 245-250whp.And stock for stock modding the new TC's see alot more power. They really pick up some power with just a tune.
