Mustang:
Curb Weight: 3352 lbs.
Engine: 4.0L V6
BHP: 210
Torque: 240

Jetta
Curb Weight: 3285
Engine: 2.0L I4
BHP: 200
Torque: 207

The Jetta is FWD too, you got a RWD car. But he has got a turbo. You shouldn't of lost by that much, infact I think you should of won.

Looking at your sig/name I was confused as hell when I saw he was pulling..Then I saw you was a sixer.I wonder what they actually make whp. You know some cars are under rated and put down more WHP than they are rated BHP

with his turbo, he also has a tq curve that's like a straight line. i can see the OP loosing to the Jetta, it's all about power UNDER the curve.

you can have 1000hp, and still loose to a 700hp car (ie big turbo Supra vs built engine BBF) if you don't have a usable powerband, than you're screwed.

Yes but a supra has a proper tranny and its RWD, and their engines are beasts. This is just a Jetta.

Looking at how close the numbers are makes me sick knowing i lost but I guess after you factor in the turbo and the torque curve it makes it a little easier to take in. But still.................its a freakin jetta.

Another classic S197 thread.

I don't understand why the Jetta would have to be modded to put a hurtin' on the bone stock 18 inch wheel sixxer...

Why is that the first thing you guys post when a Mustang loses? Do you guys realize how lame it sounds? In racing the fastest car is what matters...cold hard facts, not a subjective opinion.

My friend Kim has one of those and it's actually a pretty nice little car. She wouldn't let me flog on it but it seemed pretty quick for what it was. I wouldn't feel bad about the loss... I didn't see, are you a manual or automatic? If you're a manual I'd say just practice banging through the gears more and give it another go... on paper you should be able to beat him.
