Default I totally lose

I went to this old abandoned runway today and my buddy was following me in his car. He drives a brand new vd jetta wulfsberg. We pull up next to each other and as he rev's his engine, Im thinking in my head this is a sure win for me. We take off and for a few seconds we were neck and neck but then he just keeps pulling away. I couldnt believe I actually lost to that thing by like 2-3 car lengths. I looked up the car online and i guess it makes about 200hp and 207 lbs of torque. Its a 4cylinder and its got a turbo which suprised me.

Anyways my question is, did i lose because my car is heavier? Or does his car just overall outperform the sixxer? Is there anything I can add on to make me able to beat him without going F.I.?

So much important information missing from OP's post. Two things that come to mind are mods and transmissions. Turbo cars are pretty easy to modify for fairly large gains, and yes there's a pretty sizable difference in weight.

nothing much you can do unless you go turbo/supercharger. they are 100-200 lbs lighter and with a tune 252hp/303lb-ft. your friend could aways upgrade to GT2871APR Ball Bearing Turbocharger, the APR Stage III brings your Fast to 382 daily drivable horsepower and 332 pound feet of neck snapping torque.

Sorry guys that i didnt give enough info. My car is completely stock under the hood. I just put on some 18x8.5 and 18x10.5 rims on my car so i expected that to slow me down a bit but not too much. Car didnt have anything but a few clothes in the trunk. I was the only occupant in the car and i really only weigh like 100 pounds or so. His car is also stock but he has smaller rims, and knowing this guy, he has no intent on modifying his jetta. I think thats mostly everything. Oh and my car is a manual and his is an auto and i was powershifting. And i agree 300% that the mustang looks a million times better.
