Yesterday evening i was going out to eat with my dad and 14 year old brother when i spot a black c6 infront of me, i get up next to it and it gives me a hard-on. Wow. Stock wheels power coated black, car was spotless. I drive by him casually and as i start passing he speeds up a bit, so i drop it down into 2nd, (i just wanted to show my dad how fast they are, wasnt going to race) and he didnt go for it. There were cars up ahead, i would say thats the reason. A few seconds later, were at a light together, he rolls down his window and its an older couple and the driver goes "nice car! i wish i could get mine to sound like that!" and i was like "i like yours better, rev it up!" and he revved it up and it sounded VERY VERY VERY quiet. Ive raced a couple c6 z06s and those things were LOUD!! Idk what the deal there was...ok im done.
yup, supposedly they are to help create low end torque, and they open up at WOT to help get the gas out quicker and for the sound as well, at least I believe that's what one Z06 owner told me

I know they use that technology for the same reason in motorcycles, but I've heard everything from just noise reduction to variable resistance in the exhaust.
I believe it! Ive had the oppurtunity to see these machines at work TWICE! One was from me vs him from a light. HOLY COW!!!! That thing put 4 cars on me within 4 seconds! And the exhaust, omg.. boner!!

My understanding is GM was cheating a bit on the noise level tests they have to pass in order to sell the car. xxdb @ 70mph really limits the type of exhaust allowed. I wish I had something like that... I can rev my car up next to people and they won't even hear it.
