Default 05 GT vs. SRT-4

Well I have to say I felt pretty good today. I have a friend that has taught me quite a bit about cars who has an SRT-4. When I had my 01 V6, we went from a roll and I got stomped. Well I ended up buying my GT a couple months ago, and we ran from a roll when all I had was an intake. When we took off neither one of us budged from either one. It was nose to nose all the wayto 80-85. That was about a month ago. Yesterday we decided to run again since he went to the track the other day and pulled a 13.7 because he put on a boost controller and cut out down pipe or something like that. He also has an aftermarket intake. I also added some parts since the first race. I added on long tube headers and an o/r x midpipe. So we're going from a 35 roll again and I honk it off. I jump about a quarter panel ahead, but into third he starts creeping really slowly. Then it ran even again! Neither one pulling until 80-85 again. He said he couldn't believe it, and he thought he was gonna pull on me in third. He also said I would beat him easily in a dig. All in all it was an awesome run, and My buddy's got a nice little car there.

Race him from a dig or go past 85!

Great story. Nice to hear your stock GT was holding its own. I had a hard time launching my heavy 5-speed convertible until I switched out the 2.55's for 4.10's. Ask your friend if he thinks your car would benefit from gears.

The 05 GT Manuals are supposed to come with 3.55's. I'm fine with those because I heard FI that you don't wanna go to high with gears

Depends what kind of blower you are looking for. Get a twin screw like the Roush or Whipple and yes, the 4.10's may cause you to spin on launch. Get a centrifugal like the Vortex and you will be kicking it in 2nd and 3rd.

I'm more about torque than track so top speed is not a concern of mine.
I plan the intercooled Procharger when the prices drop a bit more.

any farther past 80-85 and he would've been going by you slowly...thats the beauty of a turbo car
Good runs man

Nice run. Can't take those SRT4s too lightly, they can be pretty mean. What tune are you running?

Nice race! I had a run like that once with a modded Cobra. Got any time slips for your GT?
