DSM Vehicles
guys, how can you be this ignorant?
crankwalk was not very common, and it only happened to 95/96.
They get their bad name and rep from their white trash drivers... no maintenance, just beat on it all day.
You put 2k into a stock awd dsm, and then put 2k into a fox, evo, wrx,f body, etc and the dsm will always be faster.

Fun cars and very quick! I had a big 16G ported and clipped with downpipe and stock exhaust boosting 18psi with fuel upgrades. Car was a 95 Talon TSI and I walked a lot of Camaros and Stangs. Never had any problems and beat the **** out of it. Have heard a lot of negatives about them but none on my end. Very fun cars but they build horsepower unlike my torque monster Ford!
i've seen the tsi awd's go 13.9 stock. just like any awd turbo (or any turbo/sc car) can be made quicker with a grand or 2.
My buddy had one and his trans died around 70k (which is where I hear they die around 70-80k miles).
Nice little cars, too small of an interior for me tho.

my friend is building a 93 Eclipse GSX and he's just barely pushing mid 13's. he's spent $2500 on building the car.dude, i'm just laughing my *** off at your complete friggen ignorance right now

^^^ pay close attention... I emplore you
back when I had my basic bolt on 2V...
wasn't sure what happened but it went out of commission for about a month or two.... I just met the kid again and he is now ruinning an aftermarket turbo with a larger front mount and a proper dyno tune
we raced with his new setup from a stop and I drove my GTO.... we took it up to 120MPH and I won by 3 cars with a CAI+tune combo
go figure...

I have seen a lot of fast ones at the track here. It seems like they have a lot of problems when they are racing. Maybe that is just how they are treated, 2/3 times I go to the track there is a DSM that blows something up.
well I think if their owners weren't such tools most of the time, they probably wouldn't get such a bad reputation.
Like I said, the one I was driving to the other day, completely white, nothing that said talon on it, I just knew it was a DSM talon, but he kept speeding up, with his music blasting, subwoofer's booming, typical rice rocket driver.
The other one, is actually grean, and on the rear tailights, centered it says "turbo", and that's about the most agressive thing on it, and even the guy who owns it, (fifty something) drives like a retard, speeds everywhere, and usually spends alot of his time in boost.
What type of rotating assemblies do they have stock? I would assume forged, but I could be wrong, which might be why some take a crap at 70,000miles or so, but also, after surfing the DSM website, it looks as if there are many of them trying to make their cars as fast as they can spending as little as physically possible. maybe if they used expensive parts, or at the very least, not the cheapest parts available, they would last a little longer.
