How Tempting would it be
Okay, so I've finally figured out a final plan for my car. I've got almost all of the parts to complete the "build", and I think it will be a very nice sleeper.
I think most of you know my set up as of right now, the only thing that I've changed is that I've put all of the interior back in the car, with the addition of some additional sound deadening material.
The only other thing I've changed is that I'm now running Hooker Mufflers, which are dumped right before the rear axle, and are damn near silent. The other day, next to a stock mustang GT, my car was literally quieter than the stock car.
What I'm planning on is replacing the Rear bumper with a stock V6 mustang bumper, running a new sleeper fuel tank that has the sump out of view, running the A1000 Fuel system and running 3PSI more boost. I'm also swapping out my slotted/drilled rotors with blank 13" cobra rotors (yes on all four corners)
I estimate that I will be running 640rwhp+ on this set up, because I made 580rwhp on 15PSI and through an automatic, now that I'm running the viper spec T-56, I think I'm probably running ~610rwhp (I don't know because I do all of my own tuning)
So what I wanted to know is how many of you would even have a clue that my car had anything going on under the hood, or how many of you would think I'm just a V6 tryin to look good?
Here's a couple pictures of my car as it sits now.
And mods, I think this is on topic because I want to know how "approachable" my car is to all the racers (if not, feel free to move it)

I think the average schmoo will not know the difference. however a real car guy will know how a V8 sounds and know that the car is not a V6. plus a quick bend down will allow one to see the dumps, not seeing even a single tail pipe would make me take a look.
I dont recall the blower u run, but I think its a centri? A knowldegable guy will hear that too.
And IIRC you have a car in the car? that there IMO blows the sleeper look, as why a cage if the car is "slow"
Its a little off topic, but close enough.

if i saw your car and couldnt hear the blower i would think your a pretty much stock gt... you dont even need to try for the v6 look, with the power you have youll still be putting that oh sh*t look on every ones face after they realize its not anywhere near a stock gt haha.
Considering I know of quite a few people that do this, I think it would be a give-away to me. I keep a very watchful eye for that 'sleeper look' because I've seen quite a bit of that going on. Your average ricer won't know the difference, but hopefully you're not picking fights with cars that can barely keep up with your slow cruising speeds anyways.
I say don't do it simply because the money can applied into other things. You'de probably have a better chance at hiding it if you just kept everything as is. Typically around here, it's not the V6 stangs who think they're fast when they aren't.. it's the stocker GT's. If you're looking for a sleeper look - from the Chevy end the GT would be more deceptive than a V6 looking stang that clearly sounds like a 8 cylinder. As soon as I would even hear that, I would be expecting a whole lot more than just your typical 'nice looking sixxer mustang.'
That's my 2 cents.

That should work if you are going of the sleeper look. Most important is stock wheels in my opinion and no stickers, body add ons (spoilers). My car is mostly stock but have black wheels on it. I get challenged all the time.
I think the key is to not look fast or sound fast. There was a Mopar that terrorized Woodward Ave in the late 60s called the Silver Bullet. It had a 10sec 440 motor in it, and he had 4 mufflers to keep it quiet. You can probably google it. It's well documented.

For somebody who almost never runs on the street, and seems to kinda frown on it all around, why would you really want the all out sleeper look? That just seems like a bait to run more on the street to me. Anyways, that said I do like the idea. Sounds like a bunch of fun, and you would definitely win some money if you were of the mind to lol
