Default Mazdaspeed 3 kill

Well onto the way to pick up some Cracker Barrel I ended up behind a very clean black (best color for cars haha) Mazdaspeed 3. I slowly went around them and saw them crack the window when I was passing by, they were pacing me for a little while so I threw a rev and they threw one back so I put my window down and told them to follow me.

Got lined up and, surprisingly wanted to go from a dig, sweet. 3 honks, and it was over before it started heh, and that is the last time I ever run from a dig when it's this cold out my back end went left, then right and I didn't hook until 3rd lol I went up to about 120 and killed it with them so far back I had to stop for them to catch up. (win by multiple bus lengths). The kids were cool, (2 in his car, baby seats, 2 cases of water and a stroller in mine haha) and seemed excited about the race.

I asked them what mods he had, and he just said a turbo 4, I think he misunderstood my question. So I'll assume stock. He never asked what was in mine, just said he loved my exhaust.

But I'm seriously not doing this cold again lol, I went back to where we launched and the tire marks were inside my line but in a nice "S" pattern and the burnout marks went for quite a distance, I had to feather the hell outta the pedal. (the road was dead, no one on it on either side, 4 lanes divided by a ditch in the middle, and water on the sides).

So, at least this made up for the dumbasses in traffic this morning even if it was a horribly one sided race.

Omg, wayyyy faster man. Speed3 is a high 13 to 14 second car vs an RX8 being a mid to high 14 second ride.

No clue, couldn't hear it even if it was. Even with my spinning I shot out pretty hard, on the launch I have no idea how many cars I had on him but it was quite a few car lengths so I'm sure he was spinning too.

Edit: when he was pacing me I could hear a BOV, are those pretty loud stock on the MS3 Stone? At any rate, I felt a little guilty racing the kids but I don't get much so I takes what I gets

The BOV isn't noticeable stock, but any adjustment to the intake at all makes them audible. A drop in filter, CAI, etc is all it takes to be able to hear them in your scenario. All I did to mine was a Mazdaspeed CAI and secondary cat removal. Those two mods were extremely noticeable!

Sounded nice, so maybe it was at least a CAI then. At any rate, seems like a fun lil car. Maybe I should get rid of the Trooper and look at the MS3 or SS/TC for a winter car

Motor trend gained 25 to the wheels on there long term test car. Thats a pretty stout improvement that doesn't effect the warrenty.

Thats not too bad. What do they put down at the ground stock?

Also Stone, did they ever come out with a real tuner for those cars or are they still a piggy back system?

They put down around 260 whp stock (if memory serves). They still haven't come out with a good tuner yet. Gears (member here) has one with full exhaust, cai, fmic, etc. I think he is putting down close to 300 whp. He'll certainly chime if he sees this thread. Very knowledgeable on MS3s.

I would recommend the MS3 over the TC. The Balt has good potential and may even be quicker out of the box (not sure on that one), but the MS3 surpasses it greatly when it comes to quality.
