Default Wheel/Tire selection

I am looking to get wheels and tires here shortly, maybe with my tax refund. I want to know if it makes a difference in trap time and speed if I get 17 vs 18" wheels? I was thinking of getting 17x10 in the rear and 17x8.5 or 9 up front. I just want to know if that helps or hurts. I was thinking it would be less wheel weight with a 17, but then I don't know if the fact that it is a smaller height will make a difference too.

You are worried about tire height not wheel height. Changing wheel size shouldn't change your tire height if by the proper tire with a smaller sidewall. POST THIS IN THE WHEEL/TIRE SECTION.

I know tire size makes a difference, but wheel size doesn't at all? If not, then I am not worried about it, I have a good idea of the tires I would get for it then.

It would probably be best to get whatever kind of wheels you like for the street, then take two of the stock wheels, and mount some DR's on them for track performance. Keep the overall tire height the same for street use. Deep dish set-ups look great btw.

The staggered look is really nice! 10 in the back is pretty wide though! 8X5 or 9's are pretty good and not too crazy

Man the 10's are nice. I'm running 18X9's front and 18X10's rear.

I wish I had enough money to get a good set of tires and rims. I definitely need some cause mine aren't working for traction worth poo.

It won't change the tire height much if done right, but the larger wheel/tire combo will weigh more and this is un-sprung rotating weight, so could/will slow the car down a bit.

/\ I'm with JD

in generally its best to run the smallest tire you can that will hook with your cars mods, if they are track tires only(?) then a 15" would be the best.

the issue with the larger diameter rim is the weight is further from the center of the wheel and takes more power to turn and as a result you lose ET
