If you have a sh1tty broke down civic with a driver who's a D bag try and run you, it's probably rice. If you have a nicely built civic with a driver who's not a tool try to run you ,it's probably not rice. Just like if a broke down mustang with a guy with a mullet tries revving his motor at me and it's only loud because the exhaust has been rusted through, it's rice.

IMO 'rice' is a mentality. Any vehicle can be rice, if the driver makes it that way. Is it the Honda's fault that it has a fart can and bigass wing? No.

For a classic example, look at that one youtube video of the rotary-powered mustang, lol. Is it the mustang's fault that his owner is completely oblivious to any car knowledge besides turning the key and hitting a gas pedal? No, but it's still rice, because of the driver.

OP, I hate to answer a question with a question, but...... you ask if it depends on the type of car thats trying to run you. You mention the c6 that raped you, and of course that isnt considered 'rice' cause its a vette. Say you did have the power to put a hurtin' on that 'vette, and then you tap the brakes to show its over, and he flies by with his flashers on, is that rice?

Also, say same scenario, your car as is, and RTI pulls up next to you. You might not race it 'cause you instantly think 'rice', but what if you did, and he put the hurtin' on you that he would in real life, is that rice then?

Again, its really a matter of opinion, and mine is that its a driver's mentality more than a car's maker

 

I've seen Domestic Rice. It doesn't have to be from Japan, trust me. The worst was this ford Contour with a big NOS sticker on the door, and for the kicker a DOHC VTEC sticker and rediculous wing.

 

exactly this....i think of rice as a style, but also a mentality...if i went around revving open headers at every grocery getter that pulled up next to me, and i did huge burn outs at lights...that would be rice to me

if i would beat the vette, and he flew past me and put his flashers on, i woulda just called him an *******, not a ricer.... so i guess maybe it depends on the car and attitude...if he woulda been revving his car to death at an accord or something and doing burnouts etc at lights, i woulda called it rice...

plus, if i woulda beat him and then he passed me, he woulda realized the front of my car is wrecked **i twinked the frame an inch or so, theres no bumper, and the fender is ****ed** and they he woulda offed himself for losing to a wrecked stang....he was behind me before getting on the freeway...i was on the way to the body shop (he only saw the rear of my car before getting on the freeway)

and if an import pulls up next to me and wants to race, its also about mentality....if a clean import rolled up and revved at me once ide give him a go...if a rusted beat to **** car with a cardboard bumper and 2 foot tall roof scoop pulled up, i wouldnt give him the time of day...even if he did have the faster car

if i spanked rti's teg or if it spanked me, would not matter on whether or not i determined it rice....it would depend on his actions while driving and how the car was done...

 

and rice doesnt have to be import....
