L99 is the LS3 but with DOD, a different cam to facilitate DOD and tuning (87 vs. 91).

Z28 comes with the LSA not the LS9.

ss is not the big boy anymore. The z28 will be there top dog if it comes out. After watching that I like the mustang even more. A car that never got time off vs something that gm had how many years to build. It does make me wish I still had my 69camaro.

....going to be weird talking about the Camaro and saying that the Z28 should be faster than the SS.

A better comparison would've been a Camaro (non SS) with a RT vs Mustang
or
SS Vs SRT8 VS GT 500...
How many V8 versions does the new Camaro have?

3 V8 versions (If the LSA Z28 is released)

L99 (LS3 block with DOD and different cam, and tuning. Same heads, and everything else as the LS3).

And then the LS3.

It's strange, but it's better than what they had going with the previous F bodies for marketing reasons and ****.

Imagine buying a Mustang Bullitt and finding out that the drivetrain is the same exact thing as a Mustang GT, except the price tag is another 5 grand more....

Yeah, no idea why they are doing it the way they are. If they are that worried about fuel efficiency they should have just went the L99 route only (people could have swapped out the cam, re-tuned and viola, all the performance is there because it's the LS3 anywho, just a milder cam for the DOD and 87 tune instead of 91).

Damn, that dude in the vid STKJOCK posted was probably the first to smash a new Camaro on the streets, LOL. That's gotta suck.

Thats crazy talk, I would expect at least a 5 hp increase over the base model for that 5 grand

I think they should have had performance differences between the two trim levels from the get go, but seeing as how GM is not exactly financially stable, maybe just shoving one V8 engine between the SS and Z28 wouldn't be such a bad idea for the current Camaro (assuming it would cost less than to have a variety of V8's). They could just change the rear end gear between the two, and have the lower trim level not available with leather or other fancy *** **** while the upper trim level would have leather seats standard along with some fancy **** like HUD (if that's even offered, i don't know) and HID headlights. (maybe that's what they did during the 4th gen F body era?)

I don't know what is really the heritage behind the SS name and the Z28 name. They probably had different engine options and **** back in the muscle car era.

I guess I don't understand why there's even both trim levels.....either way, Camaro + V8 should still = fast, regardless if it's a pig or not.
