Helmets
I posted this in general tech and got practically no responses so I figured why not try here.
My track requires everyone to have a helmet. It needs a "75 snell rating" or better if the car runs sub 14s. I'm looking to spend $100 or less if possible. Black would be nice. What's better? Open or closed face?
Opinions/recommendations please? I need to pick one up before I go try my luck for the first time on the 10th of next month.

I would go with the closed face helmet. The point of requiring a helmet is JUST IN CASE _________ happens...so I'd also assume that if a wreck happens, there's a chance of broken **** flying around in the car which could enter my face....
Also, having the helmet hit something > having your bare nose/chin hit something.
Besides, it's tougher to wear a closed face helmet the wrong way.

Definitely a closed face helmet. If you have a motorcycle place around just swing in and try on their selection and see what fits right, and you can check out the ratings there too. They tend to be decently priced too.
go to a store and try some on nad figure out the size. then go on line to summit racing, they seem to be a good price. if you plan on doing any road racing you will need some thing better then just a motocycle helmet so make sure all you will be doing is draging. i didnt and now i have 2 helmets.
Back during the times I actually made it out to the track (when I had my Diesel) I just used my dirt bike helmets (Snell and Dot approved), I wasn't the only one either (a couple of guys who I race with went up with me and we all just used our dirt bike helmets), only thing they cared about was the Snell/Dot sticker on the back. Open faced helmets seem to be what everyone else was using though.
