Default 2005 eclipse dusted me

I have a 2001 3.8L. All my mods are listed in my signature below. My buddy has a '05 eclipse with a CAI and exhaust. While on a open straightaway and no traffic we punched it while already rolling at 30mph and we floored it for a few seconds until we hit about 70 and he flat out dusted me. I know I don't have a GT but still I figured I should be able to take his eclipse, although he does have a manual and I don't. What do you guys think?

He have a V6? Our cars are high 15 second cars with intake/exhaust/tune if I'm not mistaken. If he is a V6 then it is what a low 15 high 14 car? Not sure but taking a guess, plus hes got the manual. What gear where you in when you started cz you could have been in 3rd just curising at 30 and he could have already been in his sweet spot when your car had to downshift still.

Yea auto to stick is a huge difference even in mustangs from 99-03, your year has only a 4 speed auto and he probably had a 5 speed, which already has the advantage towards him. A good friend of mine had a 03 auto with, wires, duals, tuned, CAI, and 4.10 with tloc and he beat me barely, so there is a big advantage between those.

A 3.8 Mustang is going to need a lot of work to hang with an 05+ Eclipse. Gears alone simply won't cut it. They are rated at 260bhp and can run a mid 14 all day. OP needs some spray or FI imo.

*Edit*
Damn, disregard this post.... I was thinking about the current one that started in 2006. I don't know anything about the 2005s.

Yeah, 3.8 6'ers are pigs, no offense. They're the bread and butter of Mustang sales that lets them afford to make GT's. The V6 Eclipse is the highest end version they make. It's a more powerful, more responsive engine in a lighter car.
