its really tough. i went to the track last week and boy i was having spinning trouble big time AND I have 285s! seems like i could not stall it at all and i was even spinning 2nd gear.. I know i can hit atleast 13.2 but i just need to practice a little more. i started with a 13.98 and after 5 runs i got her down to 13.5 and decided i would let her rest for the rest of the night and enjoyed watching the rest of the cars. btw it had just rained hours earlier and it was really humid. There was a G8 that really impressed me running 12.5s all night.

It doesnt matter that you have 285s-they're street tires. Bottom line: street tires will never hook the way you want them to at the strip. I am in the same boat with 285 555s and 4.10 gears---can't hook for anything though i did get 1 run in a couple weeks ago 13.5@104.7x

The answer is DRs

I best ran bone stock was a 13.65 @ 103.7 with a 2.1 60ft. take the tire pressure down some (low 20psi's) do not back up into the water box, spin them enough to clean them off, turn off traction control, launch between 2000 and 2500rpm's and slip the clutch until you get rolling and just roll quickly into the throttle letting out the clutch completely shift as close to redline as possible without hitting the rev limiter. It's not easy to do especially on the street tires but with some practice you should be able to get that 60ft down some.

I have a 92 Lx 351W built. I run 10.90's with slicks. If I put on the biggest street tire that will fit I'm lucky to get into the high 11's. Street tire on the track is like driving on ice. Get good drag tires and launch hard, then you will just have to worry about breaking other stock things.

Default Drag Radial time.

I would splurge for a pair of stickys. Nitto's are ok but not much better than your stock tires. BFG's are a really good all around tire. Since i don't drive my 02 GT in the rain or snow, i keep them on all year round. You can try the Mickeys for just track use. They are REALLY sticky but suck in the rain. Also, try keeping a log book with all your runs. A weather station will come in handy. You can get a good one for about a $100. Barometric Pressure plays havoc with these cars when racing. The higher the pressure, the quicker the car will run. Also, try going around the burnout box or backing into it. That way you aren't dragging water with the front tires. Finally, try launching at 2500 and slipping out the clutch slowly. All this works for me, so it might help you. My convert is stock except for 275/45/17 BFG DR's and adj struts and my best 60 ft is a 1.93. Hope all the helps, Mike.
