first time track advise.
Don't forget to "courtesy stage".
It is okay to approach the tree 1st. Try not to light the first set of lights until your opponent has a started to approach the tree. The generally accepted courtesy is to light up the first set of lights and wait for your opponent to do the same. Once both drivers have the first set of lights on, usually the first one in lights the second set but either one can do it.

Also, go to Wal-Mart and get some window marker (white) and try not to let the track guy put shoe polish on your window. Tell him to use yours. You need a hammer and chisel to get shoe polish off your window.
haha thanks thats great about the shoe polish. again thanks for the advice i guess ill go find some red lights to just test my launch. where abouts in ontario are you buster. i have a summer cottage on the st. lawrence river on the canadian side
PS I just noticed a V6 with an auto. I think 2.4 60 ft should be about average for that car and expect a mid 16 for an ET I would guess. Just have fun and don't take any chances.

I use a bottle of track marker.....it's about $7 but you can take it off with your finger tip. Liquid chalk. Norwalk uses this stuff rather than shoe polish. Another reason it's my favorite track, and it's been called the best track around. Something as simple as that, really helps a business.
For the auto, I hold it at 1500 rpm to launch, but just do this in your driveway or school yard. Just push the brake pedal to the floor and bring up your rpms till you hear or feel them break, do that a couple times and you know your limit, mine is about 1600rpm. I use window marker for my number and time. Also, we have a thing called midnight madness at MIR which is always filled with newbs, it is where i had my first run. That way you don't look like an idiot at some big event should something go wrong or you mess up. Also, couple more tips, one, windows up and/or A/C off once you come into the staging area. If the guy in front of you lights up his tires, your cabin will fill with smoke, not cool having to open your door to let all of it out. 2. You will need a helmet if you run 13.99 or quicker. 3. If you break, god forbid, brake and pull over to the wall and come to a complete stop. Let the track officials come to you and get you off the track, it is not as embarrassing as all the other racers and fans hating you for a half hour+ track clean up. 4. I think this was addressed, but on street tires, just spin em once to clean em off, you don't want to do a full burn out on them. 5. Keep in the gas until you pass the boards. It is like following thru when driving nails. You have more than enough room to slow down and get off the track. MIR's exit is almost at the sand traps, so you have soooo much room to go from 105 to 30 with light brake app. 6. Don't nail the brakes after the run, you have a good chance of loosing it, just lightly apply the brakes and let your car slow down until you are comfortable with a heavier application like 65mph.
Edit: Also, what track just opened up? May need to make a trip.
