Also don't worry about your reaction time or your ETs for the first time, go and have fun, get familiar and comfortable in the process and have fun (yes I said it 2x)

Don't worry man, there is always first timers anytime you go to the track. Since you are saying the track just opened, I'm sure there will be a bunch of first timers and I'm sure the track techs will anticipate that and be helpful. We all were first timers once, so we understand. Everyone is there to have fun.
Two pieces of advice that I will give so that you don't **** off the veterans:
1. If your car breaks on a run, STOP THE CAR! There is no better way to **** off everyone than to spill fluid all the way down the track and make for hours of clean up. Stopping the car keeps the carnage in a small area.
2. If you are on street tires, please don't carry water out onto the track by driving through the water box (if you have the ability to drive around the waterbox)
You will have a blast. Don't worry about the nervous part, I still get nervous everytime!

When the tree comes down, watch the last yellow, leave when it comes on.....ya see green, you're late.
Hold the throttle at about 2500 - 3000 rpms if you have a stick. Bring money, drinks, some food, a chain if you change tires, drive round the waterbox unless you have slicks. Your car is basically stock so street tires get greasy if you heat them. Do a couple dry hops to clean the tires before you stage.
I wouldn't bother taking anything out. The back seat only weighs 10 lbs, the spare weighs roughly 30lbs. You can take it out if you want, but it won't make much difference. I cover my plates and take the drivers side floor mat out, change the tune and I'm good for the day.
Remember, drag racing is easy to do, but hard to do well. Good luck and be careful.

Don't forget to "courtesy stage".
It is okay to approach the tree 1st. Try not to light the first set of lights until your opponent has a started to approach the tree. The generally accepted courtesy is to light up the first set of lights and wait for your opponent to do the same. Once both drivers have the first set of lights on, usually the first one in lights the second set but either one can do it.

Check things out before you go down the track. See where you stage and where the turnoff is at the end of the track. First couple of times go easy and get a feel of things. If you car gets squirely let off the gas. Be safe and have fun.
