Default Went to the track yesterday - Lost to 2 trucks... Yes I failed hard

First time I have been to the track since I had the Centerforce DF and the Spydershaft.

I wasnt expecting much if I am honest as my track never preps on Wednesdays ans I would be going on street tires.

Anyways I couldnt even slip the clutch out from 1300 rpm without spinning bad. I attribute some of this fail to me not knowing the clutch yet, as I have only had it for 2 weeks (800 miles).

Best Pass was my first which was the only one I bogged. I came out of the hole at 1500, I could have done 2200-2300 by the way it felt.

60' - 2.126
330 - 5.789
1/8 - 8.696 @ 85.34
1000 - 11.172
1/4 - 13.253 @ 108.7

A few others where I totally failed to come off the line:

60' - 2.388
330 - 6.114
1/8 - 9.047 @ 84.60
1000 - 11.544
1/4 - 13.643 @ 107.79

60' - 2.523 - Not sure how I failed that bad. Literally slipped it out at 1200 rpm and it was insta-spin
330 - 6.255
1/8 - 9.174 @ 85.09
1000 - 11.655
1/4 - 13.737 @ 108.68

Than I lined up against this white silverado. Had toolboxes and whatnot in the back. Had 5" exhaust tips coming straight through the rear chrome bumber. I thought it was a joke I saw his helmet and gauges. Then I heard him spool up. I kid you not, sounded just like a jet engine. Yeah, he ran a 10.666 @ 131.65. I talked to him afterwards, he was on his low boost tune. Later that night I spotted him running a 9.8xx @ 139.xx. Yeah I kind of lost by a bit

Then another run against a TT Holset HX-40 cummins

I got a bad launch, as awlays

60' - 2.258
330 - 5.936
1/8 - 8.851 @ 85.12
1000 - 11.335
1/4 - 13.422 @ 108.50

I mostly blame my street tires (running mt et radials next month) but the track prep sucks this year. They said they are "cutting back" becuase of down sales. Last year I got consistent 195-2.05 on my 235 stockers, and now I get 2.3's on my 255 Invos

Actually now that I think of it, the Silverado was the fastest thing I have raced yet. 132 Traps in a lifted truck is nothing to laugh at.

I sold my slicks 2 months ago in order to afford a new clutch. But I'll buy another pair in a month. I am tired of this 1500rpm launching.

No, 90' actually. Why do you ask? DA was a 604.

My trap does seem a bit low for all my mods, but I feel the loss of traction in first, and half of second gear was really hurting me trap wise

Your times/traps look pretty good for this time of year and with your traction issues. I was wondering more about your RWHP. I figured those cams would have you closer to 320 RWHP.

Thats what I thought too. My mustang has always been on the low side of things.

Dynoed only 258 stock and 281 with intake/tune.

I also think the dyno I go to reads a bit on the low side as well. Am friend who has a s197 with intake/tune/exhaust put 307 down on another dyno, but when he went to the one i go to, he only made 297.

But I dont care much about RWHP if I am honest. I'd rather go from a roll or a dig(with slicks of course )

I am anxiosuly waiting to hit up the 1320 again with my slicks. I added a spydershaft and ported my intake manifold.(matched the port sizes of the delete plates to the intake manifold) My clutch slipped pretty good last time but I still got a 12.8. Hoping for a 12.5 next time i go

That makes sense. Lots of dynos read low like that, but like you said, its what happens on the track/run that matters. Did your trap pick up much with that spydershaft? Is it worth it in your opinion?

I am kind of unsure at the moment. With the cams, I only ran maybe 10 or so times before the shaft.

2 where on street tires where I trapped 108-108.5. But it was a DA of -500. This time was a DA of around 500 and I trapped a wee bit higher. I also went to heavier tires/clutch. My tires weight 3.5lbs more per tire and the aftermarket clutch has got to weigh some more than the stock one.

But, if a am honest I was dissappointed in the gains. Even with the heavier tires and clutch, I was really hoping for 109-110 traps. I hope with a real good alucnh on drags I will be able to crack 110.

However, the shaft makes the car MUCH smoother at low speeds. Losing 95% of the drivetrain clunk is worht the money itself to me

You're already so close to a 109 mph trap, it isn't even funny. I think some cooler air and a bit more traction will put you where you want to be. Your clutch will pay off once you start hooking and launching harder.

You're not the first person to say that the driveshaft is a questionable mod, especially for the amount of loot it takes to get one. I think I'll steer away from that one for awhile.

****Edit**** Just noticed that you said the drive shaft got rid of the drivetrain clunk. Mine clunks something terrible. Its downright aggravating, and embarrassing its so loud. If it gets rid of that issue, I retract my previous statement about steering clear of it, lol!
