I lit the tires up through an intersection with a cop like three cars back, walked up to the car and said im getting a careless driving ticket and didnt say another word to me.

 

You can get nailed for a 'speed contest', noise disturbance....

I don't get why people think a cop needs to show up in court? If the charges are questionable, he can toss it because the cop didn't show, but if it's obvious what you did, it's hard to get out of it, especially if you have previous tickets.

If you say the guy in the Lincoln asked you to spin'em and you showed him you could, no drag race was going to happen.

 

Time to lawyer up my friend, you will get out of it but it is going to cost you a few bucks. These days cops are giving out drag racing tickets anytime they can because of that damn ricer movie. Trust me I have seen many people go through this type of thing before, just get a lawyer and be done with it.

 

My friend got busted on Wednesday. In FL they have gotten very strict about laws here.

Supposed to impound your car on the spot. But another friend of mine got nailed by it and only got a $250 ticket, $350 court fees, 6 months probation. So I'm hoping this guy will get that lucky....

 

No chit... They hear a car rev and they think their street racing.

 

yeah i live in the north suburbs of chicago, we normally race around in like bloomingdale, Roselle, St. Charles area, i got the ticket in Roselle, the cop didnt tow my car, he just made us follow him to the police station and i had to wait for him to fill out some paper work for like 2 hours and then we had to give him $200 bond or sumthin and then we got to leave, in our cars....

 

My friend got a racing ticket the other day. Not only was his car impounded but he got something like $1500 dollars in fines. He has a civic though (not riced) and the cops seem to hate those cars worse than anything else, which is understandable. You should definately try to fight it, you should get off with something a little worse, especially if you can get ahold of the guy that asked you to spin the tires. He could try to help you explain to the cop/judge what was going on. Good luck.

 

I got busted for that some years back, and when the cop walked up to my car, he asked me, "What the hell do you think you are doing? I said, "I'm qualifying". It didn't go over very well, but I got the ticket reduced to an 'exhibition of speed' which wasn't that big a deal. My biggest claim to fame is that I have had more written and verbal warnings than anyone I know, without getting tickets. I've always been good at talking my way out of tickets.

 

back when i had my modded eclipse i got pulled over right. I wasnt speeding so when he asked me the old " do u know why I pulled u over" i was like no. and he was like because ur muffler is too loud. so he gave me a ticket for that. then he was like yea ur car is too low too. so i got a ticket for that...biggest bull**** ever. so i went to court and i diddnt show any prrof or anything and got my license back for free so whatever

 

A reckless driving charge will be more significant than a racing ticket.

reckless driving charges may allow the judge to revoke his license for a good amount of time. I'm surprised the cop didn't give you an unsafe start, a display of speed, a drag racing and a reckless driving ticket all rolled up in one nice hefty fine + court time.

I'll bet you can get a lawyer and get out of it though... A coworker of mine got out of a DUI and reckless driving charge after he hit a fire hydrant and stop sign pole. He blew a .08 (borderline legal cutoff) on a breathalizer, he totalled his car, and then fled the scene after the fact. A week later he calls in to work and says they dropped ALL of the charges. ALL of them.

Not a damn thing is going on his record.

Lawyers are teh suck. There's a ****load of people out there who get off of **** like that that should have had their licenses suspended.
