A silver LS2 GTO crept up on me a little while ago while I was out running an errand. I was driving the Mach 1. We got caught at a light almost right away. It was a three lane road with me on the far right, a tractor-trailer in the middle, and the GTO all the way over. The truck actually stayed far enough behind us that the GTO and I could see each other. The truck literally stayed 2-3 cars back at the light. I'm pretty sure he knew what the deal was because he was grinning and leaning over the steering wheel in anticipation, lol. The GTO never would roll his window down, or even look at me, so I wasn't sure what was up. He was camming like a ****. Sounded pure sick along with his exhaust set-up. The light was about to turn and I heard him take it out of neutral and put it back into drive. The back of his car squatted when he did, which doesn't mean much, all GTOs do that, but at least I knew he was ready. The light turned green and we both took off normally until about 10-15 mph when we both rolled into it. I started losing traction and bounced of the rev limiter right away. I went to 2nd, but he was already a car out. It sounded to me like he was stalled the way his engine RPM held steady. Sounded like his converter locking down (completely normal). My stalled Z28 used to do it, so I'm pretty familiar with the sound. We went up to about 75 mph and he was already 2 cars ahead and pulling. He shut down first. I had to turn off so I blinked my lights at him to say good run. If only I had of been in my S197 I would've walked his ***, lol!

 

Those cammed goats are strong. My buddy has a cammed 06 GTO (manual) that puts down 425 rwhp, and him and i are a damn good race. It's like they have no limit to their top end lol.

Why not slap some cams in the Mach, or maybe a small shot of juice?

 

Nice runs. Stalled and cammed LS2 goat, that was probably a bottom 12 second car at the least.

 

Had to be, 83. He was on street tires, so I figured that was why he rolled into it so slow. If he had of been able to really get it, he would of left silver paint down the side of my car. He was pulling though. If I had of known he was down, I would've launched a little harder and made him play catch up, lol.
