67mustang302 should read the article and watch the vid..

The average joe driver (mag writer) drove the mustang faster around the track.. the pro was only 3 secs faster in the bmw. They are pretty evenly matched it seems like.. I dont see any reason to dispute that. I'd say it doesn' thave the quality of a BMW but it seems BMW quality is crap if JD powers is correct.. but, better finish/interior i'm sure..

Well I just read the Motor trend article again at work. They say at the end of the article. The M3 won fair and square. (By .01 of a second) This is the first time in the history of cars that the car with the best time wins a M/T comparo. Never mind the mustang won the 1/4 drag, braking, Lateral G was faster thru the cones and cost 27 grand less. After reading it again. I want to punch those douche bags in the face. Motor trend is crap. Glad my subscription is running out.

I never said the 5.0 isn't fast on a road course. Just that the M3 is a tad faster(marginally so). It is close enough that driving will make the final difference, but all things being equal(which is rare on road courses), the BMW is still a bit faster around a road course. THAT SAID.....the marginally higher road course performance on the BMW vs the price, isn't worth it imo. Yeah, the BMW is a "nicer car" in terms of interior etc, but I'd take the Mustang.

I'd like to see what the Boss package will do, the extra power and better suspension I imagine will put it out towards the front of everything in it's performance class. It'll make it solid competition for the C6's, and for less money.

For the vid the OP posted months back, I am surprised the Camaro did not have an edge since it has 420 ft-lbf crank torque and the 5.0 Coyote only has 390 ft-lbf crank torque.
Though the Camaro SS is around 200 lbf more, the additional 30 ft-lbf crank torque should still keep the heavier Camaro very close to the Coyote 'Stang.

Now comes the next question: What rear gears do each of these cars have? Does the 'Stang have the 3.73? Does the SS have the highway gears? If this is the case, this is why the 'Stang has the clear advantage, given equally skilled drivers.

Speaking of driving skills, the Camaro driver looks like he is a bit noobish at launching his vehicle, thus the poor launch in the first race.

Now, that would be a great comparison. And I totally can see Ford positioning a Mustang trim to take on a Corvette at a lower price (heck, the Shelby GT500 already is starting to challenge 'Vettes).

This will be a great Ford vs Chevy match-up; I want to see what the Boss Coyote can do against a lower trim '12 'Vette

The Stang had the clear advantage in the video. The Camaro weighs a lot more and it was the automatic L99 model. So, it also had less power than the Stang. Fairly sure the Stang was also an auto.
