360rwhp will barely snap a 7.5" ranger/v6 rear end without a ton of wear on it. The 8.8's easily take it for very long periods of time, let alone a 9". I bet there was something off on the alignment or a bad shim job on it. Sucks to be him though! It always sucks when a high end part fails unexpectedly.

he didn't break the 9" per say, he ripped the 3rd member out. C7AW-E center section, not as strong as the "N" case

nope, it's an LT1. still stock displacement iirc too.

Probably didn't torque the bolts properly for the pinion housing to the case and it came out.
