i was wondering, y is it that a v10 viper engine is the largest production engine in america? the britts have been putting 12's in bentleys as do the italians with ferraris and lambos. i was wondering y nobody wants to toouch a 12. how sick would it be to have a vette or stang powered by a 12 cylinder engine.

Economy, demand....

The engine alone for a viper is nearly $14,000...not including the tranny and giant rear end needed to handle that power, they can just build a V8 for a fraction of the cost of a pointless v-10 or v-12.

Yeah. Why did Dodge do the V10? image. Nobody else (america) was doing it, so they did. It's not all that much bigger than the vortec 8100 (.2L) and it only puts out more power due to tuning. If Chevy wanted they could easily pick up the missing 160hp/70ft-lbs or whatever it is.

GM has made a bigger engine in the new cadillac sixteen. It's a v16 engine that puts out 1000hp/torque. Needless to say, I don't think they're going into production.

The new "hemi" isn't really a hemi, but a new motor trying to live off the rep of the past. So far it's actually working.

Now for the s**tty thing about that motor. About the only thing you can do aftermarket to it is an exhaust. An intake or headers or any combination but a Borla exhaust so far has caused a LOSS of power. Why? Because the readings from all the sensors the computer reads don't check out with the factory specs, it thinks something is wrong, and kills power and runs way rich. Once someone figures a way around it, damn, look out!
