Default almost into the 12s

just got back from the track, nothing to brag too much about but I am happy with the results only because I improved when I was there..

most of the runs were after a friggin hour of driving and no time to cool down before the runs. They were mostly 13.6s@100! WTF?!?!?!?!?!!

Let her cool down for about 30 minutes and then went a few more times.

Got it down to 13.0@108mph as the best time (2.42 60 ft)

13.0@104mph(2.09 60ft)

13.0@106(2.17 60ft)

The motor was so hot, plus it was about 75-78 outside and very sunny.

I was gonna try and crack into the 12s but my girl was bugging me so we left early.

4.10s killed the tires off the line and the auto isn't very forgiving when adjusting it's gears to gain traction (even with the TCS OFF), I felt it cluck out and up-shift, then downshift again like it was confused in which gear to go in when fighting for traction. I ended up turning off the overdrive and I gained mph and some pull. Unlike this other incident that costed me a new motor, I just slowed down rather than mucking with the tranny.

I deseperatly need a intercooler/charge cooler and some tires...

Considering I was running a 13.2 and consist 13.3@103, being NA... not too thrilled by the times..

Thats some good times bro.. but I know that it sucks that you got so close to the 12's. Not to worry you'll get there soon enough.. What mods do you have?

I think you have a 12 sec car, you just need to put into a slip.

My 60 fts are killling me and the 4.10s are too... I'll post up vids later and you can see a huge margin at the start of the launch where I am literally just sitting there as the rpms start to climb. tried to get the revs higher, but that would only over whelm the tires. Not only that, but with every shift, the tires are fighting with the gears and it's just not gripping and I end up wasting ALOT of time 1st-3rd but from there on it's full boost.1st , 2nd & 3rd gear is 1k of one another so it feels like... not so great when the blower doesn't even have enough time to wind up, when it does it's already time to bypass boost for the build up of the next gear. It would be great if I had traction and all that work equated to all the power to the ground.

The stock converter is also real slouch and 2500 power braking is not enough to get into the power band quick enough...

11.4@124 08 roush 427R stage 3 built motor/blown was there a handfull of 12.2-5 ls1 Z28s and a host of other 12 sec cars. I whopped on a 13.2 skittle on my last run of the day, that lil sucker was quick!

yeah.. i like the 4.10s.. even with stock tires.. but i don't have a supercharger.. once you get some good tires you'll probably need a stall to make full use of that vortech.. i'm planning on getting a Twin screw (probably whipple) it will build max boost with the stock stall.. as long as i can resist buying a 2011 5.0

people with the non intercooled say for the dragstrip it doesn't really matter that its not intercooled.. bring bags of ice, cool down your engine/s/c turn it off in the staging lanes and ice it in the staging lanes too if its much of a wait.. your gf can take the ice before the race so you dont have that 5lbs of weight in the car hehe

The 4.10s were great when I was NA, I had the right amount of power to get going.. now I have TOO much lol I will also most likely go twin screw in the future or possibly park the GT over the winter to save money and just go intercooled. My suspension set up I have planned would most likely get better times than going intercooled actually, so I might just go with that;

Brenspeed rims set up
mickey thompson 275/60/15s, skinnies up front
Lower control arms
lightweight driveshaft
3k stall Torque converter

If all that doesn't net me some very low 12s.. then I'll sell my car lol

That ice thing sounds like a great idea.

I was pretty disappointed that I was running CAI/tune times at first but once I opened up the hood, it was like sticking my head into an burning hot oven! Once I shut her off and let her cool, she gained nearly all of her power back, though honestly it felt like it was heat soaking itself down the track AS I was racing down the track... doh! Don't think my girl wants to go back there ever again.. she hates cars and thinks what I do is a complete waste of time and money, she only went because I sweetened up her up with breakfast and paid for her entry fee lol

Did you get a chance to head out to the track this season??

Throw some cams into your set up and you'd leave me at the light if we were to ever race.

not yet.. the track is 3 hours away and they have had problems.. raining, and bad track prep (so bad it is worse than running on teh street) I wish I had gone last week though.. great DA (like 3300') and decent prep it sounds like.. i'll probably go when its 6800' DA and run a 14.0
