Didn't expect the guy to actually run me lol Saw a Black Viper hop on the highway out of the corner of my eye so I pulled up next to him and shot im a rev just for the heck of it... all I was expecting was a rev back and i'd carry on my mary way. Well I didn't get anything back so I sped up and moved over a couple lanes... but then I noticed him following me. So I got to the far left lane and slowed to 60 and waited for him. Sure enough... he pulled up right next to me lol

I dropped it into 2nd at 60 and I heard im downshift as well... and well it's a viper and I know i'm gonna lose no matter what so why play fair? lol I punchd without warning and he hit it when he was at my rear wheel. Slam it into 3rd and pull to about 90 and in this short time he stopped my pull and passed me up and had about a half a car on me and we both shut it down lol No point in furthering the beating much beyond that. I rolled my window and gave a thumbs up and he tossed a duece and we went on our seperate ways.

My gf said after the race "Well that was better than getting flipped off" lol The last older guy I rev'd at gave me the finger lol So it was pretty cool of this guy to run me, he even had a lady in the car. Probably his wife. :-P

After being defeated, I later on the way home beat an S2000 to try and redeem myself lol :-)

It was an 03+. It had that giant side scoop. I don't think it had the new 600hp motor tho... I would think that beatting would have been even worse.

I rev'ed at one a few months back. Can't remember if it was before or after the head/cam swap...... ANYWAY, i rev'ed at him, and he didn't respond. so I drove on.

A bit down the road my exit comes up, so I start getting off, and as im slowing down to 45mph or so, I hear a down shift, so I look over intime to see the viper in the far left lane, driver looking at me, and he takes off like a bat outta hell.

It was a old viper. looked like the 1998 ones, bright green, definatly had exhaust, but must of had some other stuff done, becase the rear end went side to side just a bit at highway speed, and it accelerated hard as hell.

 

Loved our old Viper, and yes they are beasts. Ours was only 450 ponies and a blast to drive......except in the rain.

 

The new ones are such animals. 600hp from an 8.4L, and retarded low rpm torque. Evidently when Dodge designed the CamInCam for the new Viper's VVT(one of the first pushrod VVT's iirc), they opted to phase only the exhaust lobe to help low rpm and idle quality as well as boost top end power a bit. They said that phasing the intake would make a bigger difference in low rpm torque...which they decided it already had more than enough of.

 

I would've done the same damn thing lol, I love to see faster cars than me get a move on, except most vette guys give me this look like wtf do you want pest? All I want to see is them haul ***

lol... yea 2nd goes to about 80 with 3.31s lol 3rd to about 115, 4th to about 150. 5th is anyones guess lol

 

A couple years ago I was racing at norwalk at an all-mopar event and they had a viper class...typical viper owners - lots of wool pants and golf shirts in the staging lanes. At one point in the day, my class ran after the vipers and i was the first car in my class and the vipers had one left over so i ran him. it was an earlier GTS coupe and before the race the way was looking at my car (this is my old white car...not the demon) and he made some smart *** remark about it being big and old. in front of a fairly packed grandstands i treed this preppy douche hard and walked out a bit before he found his first shift...he ran a respectable high 12 to my 12.50-ish and i was very very pleased to beat a viper in front of a big crowd.
