mach vs gto
and I can attest to a 6.0L GTO vs. a mach 1 discussion... because I've had plenty of races with my friends mach 1... which is manual... and I still pulled him up top... in my automatic
by multiple cars
don't think you have been around enough to know the OP's mouth and his far fetched kill claims...
an automatic mach 1 is not pulling on a car that traps 109MPH... tune or not

And, I wasn't really saying the Mach should or should not have won. I agree, a LS2 GTO has a disinct advantage. Now on the street, could the outcome the OP described occured? Sure... I'm willing to bet the GTO ran into traction issues each and every run. No big deal. It happens.
How does yours hook up on the street?

that's exactly what I'm saying though... an auto GTO should have no traction issues at all
on street tires I was still pulling sub 5 second 0-60's
on the mickey thompsons it was like 4.25 second to 60MPH
the auto's are geared to nothing but go from a stop... it's probably the most advantage to race from in my car
this was when I first got the car without a tune on street tires in 50 degree weather
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFDEZXaSscc
that was WOT off the stock stall with TC on and I still caught a sub 5 second 0-60... on the street in 50 degree weather
this was the races with my friends manual mach
from a 60 roll
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSfiv5DrWaE
this particular video has a race from a dig (the second race)... filmed from the supercharged sixxer, my car is in the middle and the mach 1 is in the far right lane
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbv0u...eature=related
and we all saw the tragic end to that... multiple times
I usually do not call BS unless I have very good reason to call BS

^ An LS2 GTO, with a 3.06 first gear and 3.46 rear end won't turn the tires over from a stop or a 10 MPH roll?
I agree with you, the GTO should pull on said Mach. But when we are talking about a 1.5 car gap, I don't see how it's automatically BS. It could have easily gone the other way. Stuff happens.
Nothing has been proven or disproven by the results of the OP's runs.

Here's the thing about the automatic Machs. They come stock with very aggressive shift pressure for a stock car. Mine chirped 2nd gear under WOT. The stalls are also better in the auto Machs than in the GTs automatic. So they are stout from a dig and with those firm shifts, they have an advantage in that aspect.
Here's the other thing about automatic Machs, and the main reason I think this run was flawed in some way (or complete BS). Automatic Machs don't pull worth a *** once they get into 4th gear. Its all about going from a dig and getting through the first couple gears in those cars. There is absolutely no way an automatic Mach should be pulling on an automatic GTO over 70-80 mph. I can see the Mach getting a jump from a dig (and vice versa), but that pull should be quickly shut down by a GTO, if said GTO is still on the throttle. I've raced enough GTOs in all 3 of my Machs to know that if you don't get the jump on them down low, you're not going to gain any ground. My 2004 MANUAL Mach trapped a best of 109.9 MPH, and it had 4.10s, ORX, Drop in filter, and a cat-back.
