Default 3.7 vs 2v.....

So, my brother and I are at a family gathering celebrating the life of our late Great Grandma Banks. We head outside to get some air... and a couple folks follow to check out the '12. While we're sitting there bs'ing, our ol ladies go inside. He made mention of us running, and I brushed it off.... By the time we got to the door to go back in, I stopped, looked back at the cars, and told'em lets go.

He's in his gf's exhaust/cai NE gt. I've recorded the car going 13.7 @100.3 (in stupid good air, none the less) down at Rockingham.

I'm in my bone stock, 900 mile, 2012 3.7 6spd

First run is from a 17-20mph roll. I honk it off 3 times, and away we go for my first official run. Well, it didn't start off good, lol. He jumped out a full car right away. I bang 2nd, and the reel-in commences. It took until 100mph to pass him, but when I hit my limiter @ 118, I was a bumper ahead!

We turn around to head back to the funeral home, and go at it again, from a 15ish roll this time. I honk it off again, and again he jumps out on me. 2nd pulls hard enough to get me within 1/2 car, then 3rd gear driver mod failure put me back 1- 1 1/2 lengths. I brought it back to near his bumper, but it was over really by that point.

We park the cars, walk back in, NObody even knew we left!

I'm pretty damn proud of the ol 6'er. This NE runs DAMN strong for what it is, but I think with a 3.55 gear swap alone it woulda been ugly a little quicker.

Nice, those results don't surprise me at all. PI 2v's have a very stout low end, but tend to run out of breath up top, similar to the old push rod 5.0. Plus, it seems that our cars trap about 2-3 mph faster in stock form on skilled passes.

I think had you gone from a dig, the race would have been closer, as I've found these cars to be really easy to launch being that you don't have to worry too much about lighting up the tires. Obviously 3.31's would have helped.

I wonder what the best rear gear for these cars is? I think something real steep like a 4.10 might make our already short 1st gear unusable. I was thinking a 3.55 would be nice.

Nice runs man! So the gt was a 5-speed with a CAI and full exhaust? No gears, tune, etc?

Great runs bro!!! i had a grin on my face the whole time!!

About the 01 GT its a 5sp 91k on it k&n cai, bbk catless x-pipe, mac mufflers w/ turn downs aluminum ds, and the driver mod. Stock tune stock 3.27 gears.

When it was bone stock other than drop in filter it went 2.06 60' 8.83@80.5 1/8th 13.71@100.3 with -1500 da

with the drop in filter, mid pipe n mufflers, alumibum ds, and dr's it went 2.07 60' 8.59@81.9 1/8th with 600 da

I will say i thought I'd jump out a lil harder than I did but wasnt sure at how hard he would pull back. He only fell a car behind off the kick and pulled right on around and put a bumper on me when he let out at 115. I was very impressed and even more bc its a 2.73 gear 3.7!!!

Nice work, ladies! I've been hoping ya'll would get it done. Those runs show where the power is for each car for sure, 2V down low, 3.7 up top. I'd consider 3.73s for the 3.7. I know the 3.7 has a short 1st, but it sounds like the rest of the gears are fairly tall. Use the gears and a good set of tires to launch her hard, then get into the powerband much quicker and stay there for the rest of the run.

Great way to spend some time and being the 6 is 11 years newer i would have thought it would take out the 11 year old car. Oh and the 2v wins just for sound alone.
