OMFG.. so angry at myself right now... driving home yesterday and SES light comes on and I decide to check everything in case I developed a vacuum leak or something stupid. Everything checks out fine and I just decide to check everything out... pull each injector and reclip, check all the wires on the plugs.. everything so far is great. As I check the wires to the spark packs everything seems fine.. I decide to go around one more time more agressive just to make sure... so I twist and push hard on each... as I get around to the last ones (in the back) I'm twisting and pushing hard... then I hear 'Click' 'Click'... are you serious?

I start the car up and the miss is gone... no fuel smell either (its been running rich which I've been blaming on the cam)... clear the codes and take it for a spin... first thing I notice is the cackle and popping on decel are gone (another symptom I blamed on no tune) get out of town and hit the gas and I'm hitting the rev limiter before I have a chance to shift...wtf no bogging, no fall off in upper rpms.. have to be kidding me.

I'm going to hit a Test and Tune soon.. going to be pissed if this has been the problem the entire time now.

Nice run op!

And from the sound of it, your misfire problem was easily corrected- wish my friends mazda 3 was as easy lol.

I hate modding.. If I was stock I would have known something was wrong and would have been trying to find the issue... since I deviated now I just 'accept' problems and blame various mods. I couldn't imagine having a blower or turbo setup..every little noise would cause me grief for weeks and then eventually if something was wrong I wouldn't notice. ha

aaquib whats up with your buddys mazda?

I know what you mean. Everybody told me I was crazy when I yanked the D1 off my Z28 and sold it. I told them they didn't have to live with the problems I did and until they did, they wouldn't understand. It was a good project for someone who has plenty of time and money to toy with it, not so good for us payday to payday types.

Yeah for me the worst part is if I blow stuff off I can work on the car for a day but it might be two weeks later until I can do more. It's made this entire process a pita... I took asst cheif position and my other job also stepped up a notch so by the time I get home I start a 6 - 6 shift then leave town work all day come home...repeat.. big pita when issues pop up.

Haha dude I am the same way, I get so paranoid when doing anything to my car. The other day my headlights weren't coming on and I nearly had a heart attack thinking I messed it up (I had added some ambient lighting with power through the headlights switch). I then realized I had never even turned the switch on LOL...

The mazda has been having weird vibrations around highway speed, we thought it might be engine mounts or something but we think its drivetrain related because when he hits the clutch the vibration goes away... Then theres the whole engine misfire issue, and its often during idling only... We tried changing the plugs/wires, then some injector cleaner and still no joy. Fuel pump was recently replaced too. I feel bad considering mazda is like the little brother of ford lol.

Congrats on fixing the problem. Sorry, but that is pretty amusing that all those issues were something so simple. It will be nice to see how she runs at the track now.

I'd bet money that it will run a 12.7 on a 2.0-2.1 60' and some good shifting.

Now that its running good I'm going to drop the 125.00 to get the tuning license bought and the rev limiter raised before I hit the track..should be a couple weeks.. going to get my buddy with his SRT8 Charger and other friend with his 01 Z06 and head up to Cordova. We have all been dying to line up anyways.
