unless it's stock, it doesn't count!!!!

haha.. good run man. i love the look on a vette driver's face when you beat him in not just a mustang, but a GT (non cobra). i can only imagine the look on one of their faces when you beat them in a TT v6. that'd just be hilarious!

I'm dying to race a 'Vette, but I can never catch one at the right time. I've had a few want to go on the highway when we were already doing 70. My car isn't set up for that (even though I'd take him to 115 and then it would be over) and hi speed racing on the highway is not my thing. Most Vettes look at a GT and think it would be a waste of gas to run (and if the GT was stock they would be right). So if I do find one at a light, most likely I will have to instigate it, which I generally don't do. Or I can race my older brother in his 2005 C6, which is stock.

Who do you think would have won if both cars had SC's? Again, comparing mods to stock...C5's are running what 310rwhp?

Whats your point whats faster stock??? Your just a tool man... What do you think mods and stuff are for... to make stuff interesting... How boring would it be to have just stock cars?

*highfive mopar man*

for once you're correct sir!

Alright, let me first say, that I didn't start it. I'm not the guy that goes around looking to start races but sometimes, you just gotta do what you gotta go. A balding guy in his late 30s, early 40s was driving around with the top down, blaring music, in a shiny ultra clean 2004 Blue Corvette and proceeds to speed past me and pull in front of me. Well, I pull into the other lane which was completely open, and, imagine that, we line up at a light together. There was no traffic around , I too have my top down and I'm driving a friend to go get pizza after he installed my clutch adjuster kit. I can tell this guy is feeling pretty bad *** by the way he lines right up with me. He's the near middle aged guy in the sports car that can still make it look cool, but I don't know if he actually wanted to run and I'm not gonna start something like that, but you can just tell from the guys attitude that it's a possibility. When the light goes green, I rev my engine, but I dont drop the clutch cause I want to see what he does. Well, he goes, and when I drop the clutch and gun it I am exactly at his rear bumper, he got a good jump. I'm slowly pulling on him. First to his rear wheel. We shift into second, and both spin a bit. I pull up to his door, then his front wheel and I'm nose to nose with him as we shift into third, again, we both let out a shreak/chirp of wheel spin.. At this point, my supercharger is screaming and my passenger has a grin from ear to ear. I start really pulling on him. I'm over a car length ahead by fourth and he's still going. Well, I wasn't going to stop until he backed off and I proceed to lengthen the gap until I approached a second light and hit the brakes. This guy just drives right through the red light. We kinda meet up with him at another light, and I was gonna talk and ask if he had anything done, you know, the usual talk when you have a friendly race. but he just kinda ignores me, guess he was a little bitter. We end up going the same direction and later in town, we finally get to talk. I say, good run, and explain that i'm supercharged. He's pretty much stock (maybe an air filter). He points out how hard I was pulling on him near the end, and says, "You set me straight" Dont think he was too happy about it but, those words made my night. So much better than the guy that starts making excuses. I gave him a compliment on his car since it looked like it came off the showroom floor and mine was pretty dirty at the time.
So, now I'm 2-0 with vettes. First was a 97 Auto before I was tuned. This time was an 04 stick (no passengers) and I was at full weight (tire, jack, tools, junk, 170 lb passenger). I'm effectively done with C5s that are anywhere near stock.
I believe this. I just had a similar experience last night. Nice run!

It was a 2004 convertible.
350 hp, 360 torque.

If he was supercharged, I probably wouldn't have won. But so what? I beat what he's got with what I've got.

Great kill, love when the pony steps up and scores like that.

I think I love bluevettec6, he's the best. Anyone remember that story of how hes too mature to race and wouldnt bother anyway because hes in a world class sportscar. Or how his daddy bought it for him. Or the time he used his clutch in his automatic. Remember to him the mustang is a poor mans sportscar.

Really just to get this out there I would never put them down American, V8, rear wheel drive, make it a stick and Ill drive it. But the Mustang has the same things going for it and I will always have one I love the Mustang. For the record a mustang is not a sportscar its a pony car, the vette is a poor mans sportscar you could easily spend twice as much on a sportscar and get a much nicer machine, you'd have to work hard to find a ponycar that costs twice as much as a 'stang.

When did I talk about using a clutch in my auto? Oh yea...the time I WAS QUOTING SOMEONE ELSE AND PROVIDED A LINK.

In terms of a much nicer machine...I feel pretty confident that a C6 can out preform cars that are much more expensive. It has already beat the 911 in 0-60, 1/4mile, and road course. It out preformed the Viper in Road Courses and beat the Ferrari 360 in 0-60 and 1/4 mile. Is it less expensive than these cars? Yes. But by no means is a $60k toy "cheap".

The Corvette is also much more reliable than cars 4x it's price. It is common knowledge that most exotics (Ferraris, Lambos, etc) are peices of junk when it comes to reliability. Most spend more time in the shop than on the street.
