As far as prices go, last I checked, C6s start at $44,600 for the coupe, and $52,335 for a vert which both fall far short of 60k. Only the The new Z06 starts at $65,800. Noteably, this is the model that actually impresses me.

The corvette is mass produced on an assembly line for the general middle class population. Ferraris and Lambos are hand built exotics in smaller production with prices keeping them reserved for the wealthy. The difference is, with the corvette, there is a staggeringly larger number of vehicles that would have to be fixed or recalled, which were originally sold on a slimmer profit margin, with a longer warranty. In this case, reliability becomes more of a focus. Not to mention, the exotics tend to rev higher, contain more moving parts, use newer cutting edge technology (as apposed to tried and true older tech) and don't have as extensive of a real world testing base. There are far fewer out there and owners tend to hardly drive exotics anywhere, anyway

As far as performance goes, noone argues that corvettes (other than C3 pigs) can perform which is why it is so satisfying for cars to beat them in races, even if those cars are more expensive than the vette, especially when they are less expensive. However as the GT500s roll out in late 2006 with 475hp, run 12.1 stock, and still start at under 40k, chevy is going to need to step things up.
$45,000 for a base coupe + other packages get you up to around 51k or 52k plus tax gets you to about 55k.

And I would not tend to agree with the "middle class" statement. Keep in mind a Corvette is merely a toy. Most people do not use them as daily drivers. So if you have an extra 55k lying around to burn (how many middle class people have that?) you can buy a Vette. However just like with any car people stretch way beyond their means. Could I buy a brand new Ferrari? Yes. But I would be paying it off for the next 20 years.

Mass produced? Roughly 20,000 coupes are produced each year.

Exotics using cutting edge techno? I have yet to see a navigation system in an exotic.

12.1 for a GT500? I don't believe that for a second. The car weighs almost 4000lbs.
When I said middle class. I meant that the car is owned mostly by skilled blue-collar, and white-collar workers with 9-5s in the 65-125k/yr range. Compared to exotics which are often times owned by, celebs, big business owners and investors, professional atheletes, etc.

Anyone can put a navigation system in any car. They usually go in luxury cars. The fact that exotics don't have one is because those cars are more focused on the technology under the hood. A 48 valve engine with variable timing cam-shafts that revs to 8000+ RPMs and puts out 600+hp with just 6.0L, naturally aspirated is 1000 times more impressive than some factory navigation system that I can blow away with an aftermarket unit for half of the option markup. Combine that with the fact that exotics are made of aluminum, magnesium, titanium, carbonfiber, and metal honeycomb parts and panels, add in the fact that they often have pretty radical design enhancements (just look at how the doors open on many exotics) and it's understandable why they call them "exotic".

A GT500 is a bad-a** car, if you don't believe that, you're an idiot.

gears are coming. I'm still debating whether to go bigger than 3.73 though.
With the blower you have, I would go shorter than 3.73's.

Who do you think would have won if both cars had SC's? Again, comparing mods to stock...C5's are running what 310rwhp?
Who do you think would have won if both cars had 5.7 liters? Who do you think would have won if both cars cost $50 grand? Who do you think would have won if both were exactly the same weight? Who do you think would have won if Jesus was driving both cars .....

Point is, he won.

But, but, but, that thing is got like a blower thingy. That must mean it's a piece of sh*t ford. The Vettes are like 10 times more amazing.

Typo edit: I meant to say I wouldn't go shorter than 3.73's with the blower he runs.
